In new here and have a 1997 2500 diesel 12 valve and on the heater control there is 2 wire plugs 1 for fan and other for wait to start light etc.. So I UN connected the plug for the wait to start light an turned on the key and smoked a wire that is gray with a black stripe I traced the wire from the ignition connector to a bus connector from there it goes to the firewall connector and stopped there .....anyone know why this would happen ? It only does it if you disconnect the wait to start light connector on the heater control assembly ...

The only thing I got in that wiring is light green and yellow that is a power lead +12V with a 15A fuse. The rest of the wires are grounds back to the PCM to trigger each light.
