Remote control speed boat

The place I work at is a large resort/casino with 5 golf courses. Every year we have a problem with thousands of geese either staying here to raise a family or stopping for a while on their trip to where ever they go. On average, each goose will leave 2lbs of manure where ever it wants every day. This is a major problem for the grass, the golfers, and the equipment I'm responsible for. We have 2 older Boarder Collies that are trained to chase geese but they are basically just shop mascots now due to their age.

My Director decided to pick up this speed boat to help chase them out of our lakes and hopefully keep them moving. I'll add the boat info and specs as soon as I get them. I have no experience with remote control toys but I'm looking forward to learning now because this thing goes 50 MPH and I'm sure something is going to get broken.

Anyone have any tips for something like this? What to look out for or maybe parts to keep in stock?

Thanks.

Batteries are charging now and I have a feeling there will be a damage report coming soon.

I tried to upload pics but I don't think I've been a member long enough to have that permission. I'll add them as soon as I'm allowed.

--- Update to the previous post...

This is the boat that we got. http://rcboatsonly.com/product_info.php?cPath=2&products_id=84

We might be trying it out today so I may have a damage report sooner than I expected.

Awesome!! You definatly got the baddest of the bad, that boat will fly with the right batteries. What batteries came with it, traxxas 7cell? Get some 3s lipo batteries and it will really fly but you will also have to get a changer with it for the lipo. Lipo doesnt gradually get slower like those 7 cell will, it will go and go and go and then just cut to half power. You gonna have a blast with that boat!

It came with the 7 cell batteries but we also bought the lipo and charger. Any idea how long these last or how far away from the controller the boat can go? The instructions were vague. Don't care to have it die in the middle of the lake.

My traxxas boat and truck will go over 100 yards from me, alot further than you would think. The lipos wont die but they will get low pretty quick. Make sure you change the esc in the boat to lipo mode so you dont hurt the batteries. If you not familier wil lipo batteries, they are a different animal and require some care when charging and storing them. I always balance charge my lipos and discharge if they are gonna be put up for more than a week. What charger and lipos did you get?

It's a passport ultrasport 70 watt charger and the 6s lipo's. Sounds like I have a lot to learn about these batteries. Paid $300 for the charger and batts. alone and don't care to ruin them.

Thats a good charger and 6 s should fly, what is the mah on the battery? Did the boat come with 2 7 cell batteries or just one?

It came with 2-7 cell batts. I think they were 5.8 mah on the lipo's, don't remember and the boss is out to lunch with the boat in his truck. I hope he gets back soon because what looked like several thousand geese just flew over my shop on the way to the irrigation lake. We're going to look like 2 little kids out there shortly. :lmao:

Do the batteries go on either side of the boat or in-line with each other? Im thinking you want 2 3s lipo instead of 1 6s lipo to keep it balanced. I guarantee you will feel 10 again.:woot:

The boat holds a battery on each side and unless I looked at it wrong, he got 2 of the lipo batteries. Maybe just an extra one to change it out and run longer or can this boat run 2 at the same time? If it can only run one at a time we can keep the other in the boat for balance. Boss just called. Gotta go be a kid for a while. :hyper:

This thing is so fast it's sick. Cleared the lake of geese very quickly and we only beached it once without any damage. Good thing he was running it when that happened. By the time we were done, we had several spectators and he started talking about also needing a plane or helicopter to help out. I may end up needing another shelf in the parts room just for RC parts. Should be interesting to see where it goes from here.
