P1693 & P1596 error codes.

Recommended Posts

I need some help with a problem I am having. My check engine light has come on on my 01 3500, when I checked the oddy the error codes showed P1596 and 1693. I use the truck as a hotshot and pull some pretty good loads with the truck. I also noticed that my tach would go off and on, when it went off and zeroed out I lost 30%+ in power. As soon as my tach started working, power resumed to normal. I had a buddy of mine run his diagnostic tool on it, btw he's a retired diesel mech, and his equipment show "eng mod" but no error codes. Finally, I did take Michael advise and ran the oddy past the error codes to P-done. It went straight to mileage and showed no more codes. At this point I am pretty much at a lose, only thing I know to do is take it to dodge (cough). Perhaps there equipment will pin point the problem.

I will get down to autozone and see what they got, thanks

2001 trucks require a OBDII error code reader to get the codes.

I would buy or barrow a OBDII code reader and just get the codes. Most all auto part stores with read your codes for free.
