I have a 1990 D350 with a Dana70, 3:07 gears if that matters.I had the Dana70 off the truck and was doing the brakes, e-brakes and wheel bearings to put under another truck.I removed both axles so I could use the other side as a guide to hook up all the e-brake stuff, couldn't find my camera that day.Now I am done, and the axles won't go back in. The book doesn't warn you, but I have a vague memory of someone telling me 20 years ago, to NOT remove both axles. And yes, the yoke spun when I lifted the assembly onto jackstands.Did I make a rookie mistake, removing both axles AND allowing the yoke to spin. Is there a 'trick' to getting the axles back in. I know nothing about …

After installing 366 spring myself yesterday I had a bit of trouble priming things up. I wore out my trigger finger trying to get a bump of fuel up to the bleed screw. Called it quits at dinner and sometime last night ran across a post by someone, somewhere about priming system with a weed killer spray bottle. I would like to give them credit but can remember who it was. Anyway, before wearing out another finger I tried it. I had some injector lines from previous pump swap on my 24v so I cut one end off and used a wire tie to hold it in the tube from a 10 dollar weed sprayer. Disconnected banjo bolt at input side of filter and bolted my chopped off end up.…

hey guys been a while since i've posted anything. i've still been working on the beast and have made it to the back axle that clearly needs the power lock rebuilt (spider gears are in really ruff shape and clutches are pretty well shot) i would love to hear some idea's on how i should set this thing up i.e steel clutches or fiber/steel ? i hear some people talking about using dana 80 clutch kit or dana 70hd clutch kits instead of OEM ? as-well as clutch set up washer/clutch plate arrangement. if anyone has any experience or input it would be much appreciated!! if i had the $ i'd go for an arb but my pockets are a little light at the moment

  4. Well here is the story... I have a 92 2wd xcab that we were gonna do a 4wd swap to, but after picking some other smarter brains, we found a sweet grandpa owned 91 4wd standard cab 5 speed for a smoking price. So... now were pulling the intercooled motor out of the 92 and dropping it into the non-intercooled 91. It looks like it's gonna be easiest to use the 92 core supper and paint it versus modifying the 91 support. The IP and injectors are going out to Idaho diesel to be rebuilt and flowed. As soon as the 12 valve meets the steam cleaner were gonna do rear main, timing cover gasket, valve cover gaskets and kdp mod. The motor will be out first thing in the morning and th…

  6. Hey,I just bought a 88 dodge cummins truck. Most of what I see online pertains to 89 to 93 as the production years. I do find some suppliers that list 88 to 93 and references to 88's here. My questions is my truck is titled an 88, anyone know how many were made in 88 or was a cutoff period where they were putting cummins in 88 trucks after a certain month. Just curious as I dont see many 88 dodge cummins trucks for sale anywhere. Thanks for any information as I would like to know a little more about the history of what I got. Thanks, bhawk

I have a 1990 Dodge D350. I am trying to locate an engine oil cooler. I can't find one at any parts store and am having trouble finding one on the web. The problem I am having is I keep getting oil in the water. I thought it was the head gasket so I replaced it, but at an idle with 3 new gallons of delo added after replacing the gasket, within 5 minutes of adding the oil, the oil pressure dropped to nothing. I killed the truck and checked the oil level, it barey registered on the dipstick I added another gallon and started it, same story:banghead:. I was told that a hole in the oil cooler could cause this so I pulled it off and presure tested it. It does have a small hole…

  8. Went to get the brakes fixed and the mechanic could not turn the truck left. He and I are both luckey we did not wreck or hurt someone. I had a new Steering box bracket put on last year and now today I could not drive the truck home till we get a new bracket since it broke again.Anyone know a good source? And how to reinforce it on a first gen 4x4 truck?TIA

On my 92 D250 the brakes are acting up. The pedal goes close to the floor, doesn't touch the floor, but you need to push very hard to get the brakes to work. It won't skid till you pump it up a lot of times then it acts normal and the pedal works normal without going near the floor. The front reservour in the master cylinder was 2/3rds low but, not much for leaks anywhere that I can see. The right rear has dust sticking to the rim near the rim holes but that's been there awhile. The vacuum booster has good hoses and clamps as far as I can tell......Any help is appreciated. It's my much needed work truck.T.I.A.

I am chasing a low power condition (trouble pulling hills) and trying to rule out various components. Can anybody detail out (very simply) the symptoms of a bad lift pump or a bad ecm. When you can only take a 3% grade at 35 mph something is wrong.Fuel filter changed out, injections bled, air filter replaced, currently installing a boost gauge but Iexpect it will show turbo is fine. After lift pump and/or ecm it becomes more serious I imagine (trans tq or injection pump?)When I downshift manually from 3-2 (no OD) the engine rpms go up but no change in torqueor vehicle speed.

Have any of you guys ever flushed your radiator with **** & Span [4oz. powder] or Cascade dish washing powder? My friend at the parts store said either one of those worked great.... better in fact than the "Radiator Flushes" that you could buy commercially now a days. He said just put it in, drive it "a couple of days", and then flush the crap out of it till the water ran clear. At that point the radiator should be clean as a whistle. Mine is not in too bad a shape, just a bit of white crusty crud and I have to replace a "weep hole dripping" water pump anyway. So I thought I'd flush it before I put the new pump on and refilled with new coolant. I …

Does anyone know whether it's ok to leave the factory connector on the alt (that goes to pcm) and just add the new wires to the alt terminals that will go to the external regulator? the reason I will leave the original wiring harness in place is because my pcm issues stop when the weather warms up and without it I don't have act or cruise control. Am I missing something? Don't want to go back to gas but this is a pain in my a**. 1993 D350

  15. I've got a stock 1993 Dodge Ram 3/4 Truck 4WD that is expreiencing low MPG's. The power is OK for a automatic trans truck but the MPG's are like 15-16 MPG. The VE pump is un-toucked and un-changed still is stock configuration. Valves have been adjusted and they are good. Injectors where pulleed and cleaned up the best I can but still low MPG's. Also now having issues with white smoke at start up. Roughly 350K on the clock.Need some ideas gang...

I'm working on a more aggressive fuel pin for my '92 Dodge . I used a Grade 8, 3/4" diameter 4" long bolt for the basis of the pin. More to come!

  18. Started by DezrtRat,

I got my transmission rebuilt lately and got an extremely good deal ($850) thanks to a family member (in-law). Prior to getting rebuilt, I had an issue where the truck wouldn't move when first started. Wasn't much of a problem since I warm up the engine before putting it into gear. After driving it for a couple of weeks, it started doing it again. I believe someone here said the fluid was draining out of the TC while it sat due to a bad seal or something. OK, here's the question. What harm can this do to my transmission? I'm reluctant to take it back since I got it done so cheap. --- Update to the previous post... Sorry Mike, I meant to post this in the 2…

I've been doing some research regarding the legalities of building a hood stack for my '92 D350. Seems Idaho law says its ok, so long as the exhaust gases exit above the cab. An ISP who pulled me over for going too fast(me...going too fast? Who da thunk it ROFL) said he did not know of any law prohibiting a hood stack in Idaho. His concern was mainly visual obstruction. So, with those thoughts in mind, I'm working on a hood stack for my rig. I'll post pics as I make progress.

Hello, I am new to the forum. I have a 1993 Dodge W350. The power steering stopped working with out any indication that the there was a problem before the failure. One night it worked flawlessly and the next morning nothing. The fluid is fine and no leaks are visible. I have been unable to find a diagram of the power steering system so I do not understand how this power steering system works with out some disassembly. It is not belt driven but appears to have an internal belt, gear or chain drive system which is all covered up by a thin sheet metal cover which looks like to remove it will take more than just taking out the retaining bolts. Any help would be great.…
