Truck is a 97 2500 4x4, swapped in a nv4500, retained the auto PCM and grounded NSS wire. Speedo did not work on the initial road test, shut the truck down at the house and an hour later we took the truck on another road test and everything was working normal. After two days of driving normally I parked the truck in the driveway, came back out 30 min later and when I keyed on there was only oil and air bag light prove out. No engine, gen, wts, trans temp or wif lights come on during initial key on for prove out. A/C is not working, alt. not charging and tach is dead. All other gauges work properly and read normal. I have replaced the ESS and gapped at 0.050", all fus…

l had dead 2 month old batteries in my 2001. Read through threads on dead batterieshere and found info on IOD fuse #12 in junction box.The shop manual said to disconnect both batteries, connect a amp meter between the ground terminal and ground wire - keeping it connected and wait for 3 minutes then check the fuses and relays. The only drain l had was threw the IOD fuse #12 in the junction box I had a 246 mamp drain threw it. Shop manual said should be less than 30. Used shop manual wiring diagram to narrow it down to lights common to that fuse. It was the glove box light. Disconnected it and the amp draw dropped to 1.64 mamps. :) - - - Updated - - - Whoops. 3. This past week I had to replace the head gasket on my truck and in the process of removing the head I forgot to unplug the coolant temp sender wire since they hide it so well and ended up breaking the plug off the sender. Well I called the parts place in town and they said they had the sender in stock, so I went to get it and when I got there it was the completely wrong one even though its what the computer was saying is used on the cummins. I did some searching then when I got home and got the cummins part number and managed to get a bunch of other part numbers for it rounded up as well so I just thought I would post them all here in case anybody else ever needs to…

So that I could get 92ft# of torque I wrapped an old serpentine belt around the new Fluidampr and clamped it with a pair of vice grips so the motor wouldn't spin :thumb1:Push one way Pull the other... Worked like a charm

My engine stalls @ idle increasingly. It also did it on the highway when I backed off the throttle to switch interchanges several times already. It's been dangerous putting it to neutral @ 50 mph or whatever road speed I find myself to restart the engine. If I start it up cold and leave it idle, it will stall within 10 to 15 minutes. If I catch it floundering I've given throttle and saved it from stalling. When this condition occurred I've seen my fuel pressure steady @ 30psi before during and after. I have an Air Dog pump with a big draw tube with that kit. I also confirmed that the shut down solenoid holds steady. I changed out the fuel filters. In…

So my buddy Jeremy @ Disturbed Diesel Performance built me some injectors this past weekend. Bosch bodies with some 5x.012 SAC nozzles. We're thinking that I may have a bad injector or two, which is contributing to my 9-11mpg issues...

The truck i'm working on is a 1997 dodge cummins and it is completely stock. When taking off from a stop the truck does not downshift at all, it starts in whatever gear you have selected. It will manually downshift fine except for 1st, the only way it will drop clear to first is come to a complete stop. So far I have checked to line pressure (good), adjusted the TV cable, changed filter fluid gov pressure sol and transducer. I am stumped any suggestions? Oh and no codes are coming up!!

Hey guys...new to the world! Been dreaming about getting a 2500 5 speed since before I could dive and Im about to pull the trigger on a 96 2500 4x4. This truck has 150k and I'm getting it on a straight across trade for a old Jeep. Been doing a little digging and have found some things that I didn't know about before...mainly the 5th gear issue(scares the crap it of me) but will order the locknut fix asap. What else do I need to look at on this thing before I seal the deal. This has the HD package on it(still waiting on a build sheet for specifics) It runs like a beast pulls hard, no stutters or misses, fairly clean underneath, AZ truck (not a spot of rust)and a perfect b…

Yesterday when I went to leave work I tried to put my truck into reverse but it wouldn't go in for some reason so I just coasted back and took off home, once I got home I played around trying to get it to go into reverse again but it was a no go. It feels as if the reverse lockout is stuck making it so I can't use reverse but I don't really know much about the inner workings of the NV4500. I've rebuilt a few transmissions out of semi's but they seem simpler to me.At this point I'm thinking I'll have to drop the trans and pull the top off when I get a chance unless any of you who know the NV4500 have any other ideas.

Ok, I have one... Anyone have an idea why my truck randomly stalled last night? Gave it a few moments and it started back up ran great the rest of the night.... Did notice when I left the house and crossed the intersection it didn't seem to have the oomph ) it normally does. Normally (in the short timed I have had the truck) you give it a little fuel and he runs like a scalded dog... after the restart it was better but not perfect, but after we got where we were going and the truck sat for a couple of hours, he was himself again on the drive home... Any suggestions???

I noticed that since it's started to get colder at night here (40s), my throttle seems to stick on idle position. It feels almost like it's caught on something, and takes a good bit of pedal pressure to release it.It will do this several times on the way to work, as I make my way through stoplights. If I come to a stop, wait a second or two, then touch the throttle, it's fine. If I leave it alone and wait on the light to change, then hit the throttle, 50% of the time, it'll stick.WTF? I can't see where it's catching on anything. I use 2stroke in my fuel so I'd hope it's not the rack sticking..

If I floor it off the line or a slow roll, the trans will NOT shift into the next gear unless I lift some. Anyone ever experienced this?

I know someone here (JonFAK?) ran a 351cw on a 12v (pre-twins).A: what did you do for the wastegate control? remove/plug the solenoid and add a boost elbow?B: What was needed for the charge pipe from turbo outlet to intercooler?C: Downpipe?D: Was it worth it (swap from HX35 to HE351) on a very mildly modded setup?

  16. Ok guys i hope its ok to post this in this forum but what i have is a 12v cummins swapped into a 97 crew cab chevy dually. I am to the task of hooking up hoses and i am puzzled at which hose goes where! I guess i need to know what sequence your truck uses or if someone could give me detailed help as which hose goes where in some sort of a methodical approach it would help me out tremendously..I havent thought about it a whole lot but when i was trying to make sense of it and was thinking about the whole high pressure/ low pressure side and which one should go where i got a bit taken back by the complexity... when i looked at the rear of my power steering pump and it had …

OK, so I've had the truck up and running for a few weeks now and I'm still trying to pin some issues down. Max boost is up to about 60-65 psi, pyro at cruising is running around 7-800 degrees. However, if I'm in 4th or 5th gear, running at a good rpm (tach is out so I don't know what the rpms are, I just know I'm not lugging it) and hammer down, pyro jumps to 1200 by the time I hit 35-40 psi. I've tried adjusting the fuel, preboost screw is almost all the way in, but even if I hammer down on it, all I get is a light cloud. Not enough to black anything out, not black at all, a dark grey. Now I'm not going for smoke, but I'm trying to figure out if I'm fueling enough t…

  18. Changed the Pinion seal on my son's 98, lasted about a month but started leaking again. Had a recommendation of putting in a Speedy sleeve, but have never used one. How easy is it to do, or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new pinion?

I was talking to the Suncoast tech today, and he was on a website looking at a shift kit directions for me to follow. He said go to B&Ms site, and you can find it.. Well, I can't find it. I can't even find one on Google..Anyone seen one or know where to find one? It's basically a instruction manual on what hole needs drilled where, and how big, etc..I need to get this asap, as I've got the VB torn apart on the bench, and need to get it back together tomorrow morning.
