Hey gang... I'm hard at work adding more to the article database. After seeing Dorkweed's post I figured I better find the information and get it plugged into the site for other 3rd Gen's. So might want to keep a eye on the list and let me know if there is anything missing, etc... http://articles.mopar1973man.com/3rd-generation-dodge-cummins/60-obdii-error-codes

Hey gang. I'm going to be pruning out the dead members that are stuck in the database with 0 Posts and have not been back to the site in over 1 year. I've got a seperate usergroup for unvalidated email users and there is 17 users stuck in there right now. These are users I cannot contact by any means because the email address is invalid. As for the limited members group there is over 624 members that have not logged in in over 1 year and have never posted anything. These members I'm going to send a email to and see if they respond by logging in again. If so then in 30 days I'll dump the rest that don't repsond to free the database up of the dead members. 2,118 members sou…

Ok Gang...Winter time is coming and I'll be capable of putting more time into the site. I've been thinking of building another skin for the site but want some help from the members. Since I picked the forest thme for the site I'm going to let you guys submit your photos of what you want on the background. RV camping scene, Winter sports, dirty work pics, etc... How I build the skin is I take that photo and use it for the background like the forest pics I got now. Then using a paint program Gimp (or Photoshop) and sample the different colors from the picture and use it to color all the site then. So hopefully the pics are colorful with good contrast of light and dark. So m…

This is something you end user wouldn't normal see on your end but I've been trying to figure out for a little while. I've been using Mod Rewrite commands on the server to simplify the URL or web address so it user friendly also Google friendly. Well Google has been constantly complaining about old links from long ago (3-4 years ago) when I was still using PHPbb 3.0.4 software. Well Google continues testing those links and getting 500 error code for the page. Finally I took the time kick the server logs in to gear and looked it over. Come to find out I've been missing the code to redirect 404 pages somewhere. Now they redirect back to forum index page. So I added to my …

With all the time I spend working on web servers I've found new ways of backing up files and MySQL databases fast so I don't have to download files across the Internet or FTP stuff back and forth. So here is my BASH script... #!/bin/bashcd ~/folder/forum/tar -zcvf forum-backup-$(date '+%m-%d-%Y').tar.gz ~/folder/forum/cd ~/folder/articles/tar -zcvf articles-backup-$(date '+%m-%d-%Y').tar.gz ~/folder/articles/ This little but effective script creates a TARball file similar to ZIP in Windows and the file name has a date stamp in it so if there is several backups made they are all dated. forum-backup-06-08-2012.tar.gz Just for fun facts todays backup at 0…

Just had a member join the site and get upset because he's not allowed to publicly post up a article about company. This article was going to be about negative information about this company. I do allow voices of opinion to be posted back here in the premium forums but I don't like it on the public forums. I've ran into this problem and had a member here post an article about a shop and his feelings of it. Well what happened was the article happened to land right below the company web site in the search engine. So I had to delete the thread and then patch up things with the company... Then I had to contact the search engine and have the link removed. So... Oh well sorry I…
