  1. Started by jumpjg,

I've noticed on many GM diesel trucks a device that I interpret to be some sort of exhaust extractor. It is a section of tubing, approximately 1 1/2 " larger in dia than the tail pipe, welded on to the end of the tail pipe with S-shaped pieces of round bar. It looks like there is a section of the larger tubing that is necked down like a venturi positioned just beyond the end of the tail pipe. I've seen them installed on private vehicles, business vehicles, and even public transportation vehicles. I'm just wondering what the heck it's called, what it's supposed to do, and why don't I see it employed on anything else besides GMs. Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks for you…

  3. Started by flagmanruss,

I wish I'd thought to take pictures... back in late 70s a guy I did business with dropped a Detroit 4-53 into a Chevy pickup. It was mean!! I know they had oil pan cross member issues but the guy was a welder so he solved it somehow.

This thread is for Flman more so.. But all help is welcomed! But I just had a customer show up with a cycling A/C compressor showing the signs of low freon but got my manifold hook up and... (Here's where its gets weird!) The low side is cycling at 100-120 PSI rising at the same time with the high side at 100-120 PSI. So as the clutch locks it rises together to 120 and cuts out. I just want to verify I'm looking at a dead compressor.

  5. this is sacraligious not to have any chevy post even though its a dodge site, so a seebee brought in a 05 gto 6 speed 6.0l, this is a sweet car got to perform a shake down before mods start it will scoot especially with trac control off:ahhh:. so 40 thousand miles absolutly no problems and he drops it off with over $4000.00 worth of hot rod parts in the trunk and asks can you install all this by fri. so it can be sent to the chassis dyno. i inspect the new trick flow cyl heads and lunati cam, injectors, fuel pumps, rockers, under-drive pulleys, yad yad. and say yea $1400.00 labor plus misc. parts thinking he would at least twitch a little or somethin. he hands me the keys…
