Got in the the truck this morning, stuck the key in and off she went. Stopped and bought coffe got in and the key went in about 2/3rds of the way and got stiff. I had play with it and push in to get it to turn. Figured as many starts as she has on her it is time for a new switch. I also noticed that the turn signals can now be turned on with the out of the key in the switch. So I am thinking whatever electrical switch it operates must be showing it's wear also. Anything else in there that y'all know about that might ought to replace whilst I am in there? Or maybe I am barking up the wrong tree?

  • Try a different key.  Spray a little lube into the tumblers. Remove ignition switch from lock and see how the lock turns with key verses the switch.

I am using my new oe key that that has been in drawer since 2001. My old key got so thin and rounded off i could pull out of the switch while the truck was running. I do have a spare made off of this new key and went out and tried it. Slid right in no issues and the turn signals would not come on with it out. Maybe some lube is all it needs. I will give it a try.
