Today I got to spend a few minutes under the front end of my truck (2005 3500 2WD). I noticed the bump stops are really close and have definitely been used. I could not even slide my finger between the rubber and the steel. They appear to have less than 3/4" of space.Even the tie rods are going slightly up hill from the rack to the wheels. I have been pouring money into this truck (all oils, filters, muffler, exhaust manifold gaskets, exhaust brake repair, plus other things I am sure to forget) so I don't want to go buy new springs yet. Any other suggestions?

Seems to me i have seen rubber spring inserts somewhere a good while back. I googled "coil spring inserts" and a bunch of things came up. To many to link.

I am wondering just how much clearance there should be between the rubber and steel. I also wonder if these springs were replaced when the Southern Comfort did their conversion.

That part I could not answer. I can measure the clearance on mine and see what it is. I have been suspects mine are getting tired. When I go over some speed bumps I can feel the rubber hitting the stop. Not hard but definitely bouncing off of each other. Still seems to sit good just looking at it but maybe weaker.

Yours (if it's the truck in your sig) should have a bit more clearance than mine. I will try to look around on the interwebs and see if I can find anything.
