Hey guys, my name is Kerry and I have a '99 Dodge Ram 3500 2wd. I'm having a problem with the tach dropping off and the truck loses power. It last for a few minutes then everything starts working again but sometimes the tach will act erratically and the truck will start missing. If anyone can give me an idea of what to check or do to fix this issue I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Have you for codes? Cam sensor maybe? Codes would help.

I keep getting codes P0336 and P1690.

Looks like the crank sensor. The codes are in the articles section under 24v 2nd gen, obd error codes. I cant seem to post the links to night.

I saw that section after I posted this. Working throw the tests on those codes now. I would think the sensor was bad if I hadn't replaced it a couple months ago. Thanks for the information and the help with trying to solve my problem!!!

Your welcome. I went thru 3 cam sensors in about 4 or 5 months before one finally lasred on the wifes Dakota. Bad ones do come out of the box sometimes.

I totally understand all about bad sensor and all other electrical components coming out of the box bad and everything, been working on heavy duty trucks for years. Just heard something about a possible tone ring issue and wanted to talk to the ones that have been around the smaller cummins engines and might know the exact issue I'm dealing with.
