Will an ECM from an engine with a standard transmission work on an engine with an automatic transmission if the year model & engine size is the same?

I did the opposite when my 53 block cracked. Bought a same year engine that was from a manual and put it in and used my original auto ECM. No issues at all. You can also contact smarty resource.com.
