Replacing the evaporator core and heater core on my 98 24 valve truck. I have everything loose except the 2 bolts under the dash. There is a cable going to the blend door from the heat and cool knob that I cant figure out how it comes loose. I can pull the cable loose from the door but how do I get it loose from the box. I have a bad habit of breaking stuff. Also having a hard time finding the vacuum line that unplugs from the drivers side. I can't see good enough anymore to do a lot of things. Thanks for any help.

Looks like some kind of retainer clip on that pin. I have had mine out but there were no cables on it.

Yes, it pulls off. Can't get the cable loose from the black plastic part. I sure don't want to break it. Ive got to have this put back together by monday for work.

Found a post on fixia that had a picture of the cable. The round part of the cable on the end plugs down into the black tower. I could see everything better after I got it down from its mounting place. Didn't break anything, maybe this will help someone else. Thanks.

I hope does. Sorry I could not help. My blend door is operated by small motor and not a cable. Yours must be on the cusp of the change.
