Good Morning!

 

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to find a 2001 Dodge 2500 manual 4wd long bed with 62K original miles. I drove it down from Montana to New Mexico, which I had the brake lines replaced pretty much immediately because there was a slight leak. I was driving to work and then all of a sudden I lost power, which caused the truck to stall out in the middle of the road. It turned out to be a bad lift pump, which I replaced with the Titanium Series Fass95 only to find out the Vp44 went with it. The shop I had originally had the truck brought to drained both 10 year old batteries accidentally and for some reason when they recharged them one of the batteries had the terminal reverse...

 

I obviously took my truck as far away as possible from them and installed both the lift/injection pump myself. I finally got the truck to turn over yesterday and it threw several pcodes:

 

P1682, P1687, P1693

 

I know some may be associated with the new Fass lift pump since it is not using the old lift pump's sensors, but I am not sure if all are associated. I do lose battery voltage in the gauge when I am driving, but I know there is nothing wrong with the batteries because they're brand new. 

Additionally, it doesn't feel like the ac is blowing cold air nor is the aftermarket radio receiving power. I checked the fuses, but I do not see anything blow.

The codes dont have anything to do with the new lift pump. There are no sensors involved with the lift unless they are after market. The 1682 is is a low charging code and the 1687 is a no bus message for the cluster. 1693  is just telling there are codes. If you go to the articles section under 2nd gen 24v all the codes are listed there.

 

Electrical is not my strong point but it sounds like that may have done a bit more than drain the batteries. Lets see what the more electrically inclined have to say.

I found out that the 140 Amp for the alternator was blown and I think that's causing the 1682. I went to an autozone and the guy said the alternator was giving off a very insignificant amount of charge, so I am hoping it's because the fuse is blown. 

 

I was reading somewhere that the 1687 could be caused by the FASS because it doesn't use the same electrical source that the old lift pump once utilized... I removed the lift pump when I installed the new FASS 95. 

There is a code that can be set with the oe pig tail disconnected. It has nothing to do with what you have. The FASS 95 should have just plugged into the oe harness for ECM control of the pump.

 

I should rephrase that a bit. It should get its power thru a relay using the oe harness for a trigger to close the relay and power on the pump.

Yeah I think I was misunderstanding you initially. 

 

After discovering that literally no auto store stocks 140 Amp fuses, I went down to my pick and pull. After swapping it out, both the 1682/1687 codes disappeared and the battery gauge is pinging at 14v. The 1693 gauge is still popping up.

 

Additionally the last two quarks I am finding is my Pioneer 3500 NEX is not powering up, but my radio fuse isn't blown and the AC wasn't blowing cold air, but I haven't tested it since I fixed that one fuse. Any ideas? 

The 1693 is just one computer telli g you the other computer has a code stored. Nothing to worry about. It should clear out with the other 2 when you clear the other codes.

As far as the radio and ac check them out and see if they work. I would be just guessing on those.

I’m going to try swapping the AC relay (I think that’s what it’s called) in the fuse box       . My idea is if two of the fuses blew in there then chances are pretty good that the AC one did as well. 

 

As  for the radio, I guess I’ll try to swapping a new unit out 

The relays are the big black square things in the pdc under the hood. Thay are the same so if your horn works just swap it in for the ac and see what happens. 

 

The radio may have an inline fuse if some one did not use the oe wiring, long shot maybe. Have you checked to see if power is getting to it?

 

With the battery problem at the shop it makes me wonder what teally happened while they had it.
