Intermittent dead pedal and hesitation
So i got the VP installed yesterday and i scanned for codes following installation. The following codes were present after initial start up. P0237- MAP sensor low voltage P1693 I cleared the codes and went for a test drive. As of this morning, no new codes were present. I will hook the scanner up when i get home and see if it through any new codes. During my test drive yesterday and my drive to work this morning, i experienced no issues with dead pedal or hesitation.

Intermittent dead pedal and hesitation
So today while I was looking over the wiring, I remembered that a few times since I installed the pump the engine temp reading on the quadzilla would sporadically drop to -40 degrees for a few mins and then jump back to 185. Not sure if this is part of the same problem I'm having. The sensor is less than a year old and I did get it from Cummins, so is this indicative to a bad/ going bad ecm? Not sure if the temp issue and the dead pedal are part of the same issue or 2 separate issues. Just thought I'd mention it while I was thinking about it

Intermittent dead pedal and hesitation
A friend of mine has a snapon scanner that we will hook up after we put the pump back in on Monday. I'm looking over the wiring tomorrow to make sure I don't have bad ground or exposed wire. I'll check the WT as well, thanks for the reminder.

Intermittent dead pedal and hesitation
From what I know, Mastertech is a certified Bosch rebuilder. I spoke with them in length about this and they stated they only use genuine Bosch parts for the rebuild. This is the 3rd pump I've got from them and have never had any issues.

Intermittent dead pedal and hesitation
Hey Guys, I really need your help on this one. I have been chasing an intermittent dead pedal and hesitation issue and I'm not sure what could be causing it. It does not happen all of the time, there will be days that i drive the truck and it doesn't happen at all and other days where it happens multiple times. It doesn't matter if the engine is warm or cold either. It usually happens under acceleration, but it has happened while cruising. I will go to accelerate from a light and nothing happens when i push the pedal for about 2 seconds and then it will kinda sputter and then accelerate like normal. I put a new VP on the truck in July and after talking with Mastertech diesel here in Boise, they thought my new pump might be going bad already so i took it back to them on Monday to be tested and it passed, so i know that is not the issue. There are also no codes or check engine light. All of the following has been done to the truck. so I'm not sure if I'm chasing an electrical gremlin or the new ECM is beginning to fail. Any insights or trouble shooting help will be greatly appreciated as i don't just want to start throwing money at random things hoping it fixes the problem New batteries in April New alternator last year New battery cables New ECM in 2021 New OEM MAP sensor in 2022 New OEM cam sensor in 2021 New VP in July 2024 New Timbo APPS last month WT wire mod Air dog 100 and 14psi of constant fuel pressure

Surging while driving
W-T mod is complete and BD noise filer is removed. I haven't had any issue since, seems the truck runs better and feels smoother while at idle. Not sure if it's just me or not but I'm not sure why I waited so long to do this upgrade. Now on to other electrical problems.

Surging while driving
W-T thank you for the detailed explanation. I went out and checked last night and my truck does in fact BD noise isolator. I will remove it this weekend while performing the ground mod. I still have not had the surging issue again, but i did notice something else on my drive into work today. My boost pressure was spiking while on the freeway cruising at 65mph. It would bounce from 4psi to 16psi on my Quadzilla monitor. I will look at pulling the MAP sensor and replacing it with a spare i have to see if that fixes that issue.

Surging while driving
I know the 3.55s are not the best for the 35" tires. My plan is to eventually re-gear the truck once i have the funds to do so. As of right now, i don't really have an issue with EGT's, i have a hard time getting it over 1250 at WOT. I can say that the issue I'm having does not feel like a tranny problem, I can feel the truck speed up and then slow down. It happens for a 2sec period of time but it is not consistent. it will do it a few times and then stop and then it will happen again. It also happens at varying speeds, sometimes accelerating from a stop light to cruising speeds.

Surging while driving
I have reset the APPS, I'm not sure if it did anything since i have not had the surging problem again since i posted this thread. I will see if it happens again sometime again during this week. I will still check the VP wire tap and perform the WT mod this weekend. I hope this will solve my issue for good.

Surging while driving
This morning I opened the Quadzilla app on my phone and watched engine load and throttle position. Not sure if this is as accurate as a live data tool, but its all I had at the moment. But of course it didn't surge this morning . I will drive it again at lunch and see if it does anything. This is such a PIA since it seems to be completely random. Once I locate my multimeter that wandered off i will test the tap wire on the VP. I will check the Quadzilla ground once I get home. If this turns out to be a bad APPS, it will be par for the course, I keep getting crap parts that are supposed to be good since I bought an Alliant APPS from Thoroughbred diesel.

Surging while driving
Okay, I have reset the APPS. See if it makes a difference in the morning. I could not test the alternator since i cant find my multimeter, it must have grown legs. I will try to find it this weekend and test to see if there is any AC noise coming from the alternator. I was thinking about it today and correct me if I'm wrong. Could this be a VP issue caused by the wire tap from the Quadzilla? The last few times this has happened was after a hard acceleration where the pump tap was engaged from the Quadzilla (running tune 4 of 6). There are custom tunes based on input from you guys (much appreciated) So today at lunch I lowered the power setting to #2, I had no issues what so ever at all. I shut the truck off probably 4 times making different stops during lunch and nothing changed, the truck ran flawless. Also, on the way home cruising on the interstate, no surging, it never missed a beat. So this is either a coincidence or it really is that random, let me know your thoughts. I plan on doing the the W-T ground mod this weekend since I have been planning on doing it for awhile, but not sure if might help solve this issue or any of the other weird dodge wiring issues I'm having, but that is a topic for another post.

Okay thanks, I will try to get that checked tonight. The alternator is new so many i got a bad reman. I was also thinking of resetting the APPS, not sure if that will make a difference or not.

Surging while driving
Hey guys, I hope everyone had a nice holiday season. I believe that I have another random electrical gremlin but not sure where to start. So, it started the other morning on the way to the office, the truck started randomly surging as I was cruising down the interstate. I was traveling between 65 and 70mph, and it feels like the truck is accelerating on it own. I can hear the engine raise RPM’s about 100 RPM and I can feel the truck accelerate for about .5- 1 sec, then it goes back to normal and then it happens again. It is totally random, sometimes it happens at slower speeds and sometimes it only happens when driving at highway speeds, and sometimes it does not happen at all. I noticed this morning that it was still surging even while I was giving it throttle while driving. So, I’m at a loss here since there is no CEL or codes. The VP is new and has about 6k miles on it, I replaced the APPS last summer, the ECM is new, the batteries are new, the battery cables are new. I also have not noticed any changes in the gauges, they all still work and seem to always be functioning correctly. Except sometimes the lift pump pressure is low, it stays at 11psi and wont go up to 15 where it normally is, unless I shut the truck off and start it again, then the pressure will be 15, but again this does not happen all the time. Sorry for rambling and I hope yall can make sense of this. I’m just not sure what rabbit hole to jump down yet.

Daily tune advice
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I need your guys help with this, I’m trying to perfect my daily tune to maximize power and fuel economy. I was finally able to swap out the DDP 100hp injectors with some DAP 100hp injectors (so much better) Also, the truck does have 35x12.5 with 3.55 gears, I know it’s not optimal but I don’t have time or money to re-gear the truck at this time. Below is what I’m currently running, and any input would be much appreciated. Power levels: 7 RPM limit: 3400 Max valet mode power: 50 Pump stretch: 1400 TPS pump max: 100 TPS pump min: 20 Min pump tap fueling: 0 Pump low boost scale PSI: 12 Boost scaling: 40 Load timing: 1 Low PSI timing reduct: 3 Timing reduct scaling: 50 Light throttle timing ADV: 3 Light throttle timing load limit:40 RPM timing max: 1500-13 2000-17.5 2500-22 3000-26.5 Max:28 CanBus fuel 0-85 1-86 2-87 3-90 4-95 5-99 6-100 7-100 8-100 9-100 10-100 11-100 12-104 13-108 14-112 15-116 16-120 18-124 20-128 22-132 24-136 26-140 28-144 30-148

Daily tune help
I have not received the nozzles yet. I was thinking about going with 320 and seeing what happens.

Daily tune help
So I guess the question is, once i put these new 7x.010s in, am i going to have the same problem with the heat and smoke until i get the truck re-geared? would it be better if i went down a RV275?

Daily tune help
Ok, sorry for the confusion, im ment 1600 at 65mph, sorry for the typo.

Daily tune help
Getting the truck re-geared is on the list of things to do, but unfortunately it is on the bottom. I'm hoping that getting rid of these DDPs will fix some of the heat issues. Right now I'm right about 800 degrees at 65mph and about 1900rpm pillar gauge reading 3psi. So hopefully those 7x.010 nozzles i bought aren't too big and don't help the problem, but at a minimum help stop me from smoking out intersections or hazing going down the highway. We shall see.....

Daily tune help
I appreciate the help, I ordering some 7x.010s from DAP, and going to try and get them swapped out next week. What are your opinions on pop pressure? I know you guys are running some higher or at stock? Is there really noticeable difference?

Daily tune help
I'm glad you mentioned that. I was thinking about what nozzles is should use to replace this ddp garbage. I wasn't sure if I should go with some 7×.009s vco or step up to 7x.0010 vco. I'm still concerned about heat and how much my tires will effect it. I'm running a 60/67/12 charger so I should be fine there?? What are your thoughts?

Daily tune help
😆 right, worst thing I've ever bought for my truck.

Thanks for the help, I added a few* of timing and it cooled it down a little. I really need to get the nozzles on the DDPs swapped out. She is a hot smokey pig.

Daily tune help
Okay, I need your guys help with this. I’m trying to fix this daily tune so my EGTs are not so hot cursing down the interstate. Right now, it is hard to keep under 900 while doing 70mph without any hills.( running in level 3,4,5, changing levels does not really change the EGTs) The truck still has the damn DDP injectors in it since I have not had time to change the tips yet (next on list when I have time) so I know those are part of the problem. Also, the truck does have 35x12.5 with 3.55 gears, so I don’t know if that is part of it as well. Below is what I’m currently running, and any input would be much appreciated. Power levels: 7 RPM limit: 3400 Max valet mode power: 50 Pump stretch: 1400 TPS pump max: 100 TPS pump min: 20 Min pump tap fueling: 0 Pump low boost scale PSI: 12 Boost scaling: 40 Load timing: 1 Low PSI timing reduct: 5 Timing reduct scaling: 50 Light throttle timing ADV: 2 Light throttle timing load limit:40 RPM timing max: 1500-13 2000-17 2500-22 3000-27 Max:28 CanBus fuel 0-85 1-87 2-90 3-95 4-97 5-99 6-100 7-100 8-100 9-100 10-100 11-100 12-104 13-108 14-112 15-116 16-120 18-124 20-128 22-132 24-136 26-140 28-144 30-148

Truck is dead, will start and then die
i ended up taking an ecm off a friends truck and it fixed the issues i was having with it dying and not starting. So, i finally to get my new ECM. I installed the new ECM and all of my random issues went away. The track runs better than it ever has since I've owned it. I also tested the ALT and everything looked good, so my scanner must have read the data wrong or the old ECM was throwing out weird data. Hopefully the truck will be maintenance free for a while, I'm running out of money and things to replace LOL. thanks for all your help this guys!!
