Mopar1973Man's Crankcase Vent Modification
so i am in the middle of "hunt down and purge all the oil leaks day" on my 99, and this mod is one of the ones i'm looking at, as the previous owner's shove a pop bottle on the breather hose mod just ain't cutting it.that being said i have a rather newbie question to pose...couldn't one just take the end vent tube and graft it into the air intake (i have an airaid box and filter)just after the air filter? in my mind this would prevent any mist buildup / drips to the ground, as it would come in with the intake air and burn off.i know i have seen this setup on many other vehicles i have worked on in the past, but this being my first turbo, i wasn't sure about that oil mist's affects on that particular part of the intake system? would appreciate some input from those more learned and experienced...thanks

Battery Recommendations
over the years i have come to love the spiral cell batteries (optima being the big "name" in the style), the ones that look like a overgrown plastic coated six-pack... having used optima yellow tops in my younger stupider days as extra power/capacitance for excessive stereos, i have seen them last easily 10 years... that being said, for heavier duty, more long term applications (such as winching and cold northern winter starts), i found that the motomaster branded ones (the house brand at Canadian Tire) are at par or better then the optima red tops. the technology is pretty universal, i suspect most brands are built almost identicallybeing maintenance free is a huge advantage to the average user, while i have the know how to monitor and top up a traditional lead-acid, i don't usually have the memory to think of it often enough. Spiral cells also they boast the ability to be mounted in any position, my first optima yellow top lived a few years mounted almost completely upside down in the trunk of my first car with zero leakage. this makes them great for adding extra cells to a system.as soon as i have the slightest issue from either of my factory batteries, i will be putting in a couple spiral cell replacements into my truck, without pause.

Headlite Lenses....
it's just a brand name my local parts store carries, i find it adheres to the plastic quite well, as well as most surfaces (my jeep is done entirely in plastikote fl-9 orange lol) more specifically to lenses i use the T-45 clear acrylic: http://www.plastikote.com/products/General%20Purpose/Premium-Enamel-Paint.html

Headlite Lenses....
well i haven't got to the lenses on my truck yet, shes still new to me :D, but I have done a handfull of other vehicles over time, before they thought to sell us those pricey kits I found my own (which is also cheaper) way:sand them down (i just use a palm sander) with a coarse, then finer sand paper, wipe with a damp soft cloth to get any dust left on, let them dry then give them a few light coat of clearcoat (i usually use plastikote brand rattle can) untill it fills and settles smooth.the paint fills in any marks from the sanding and gives a nice crystal clear smooth surface that i have found has a good long life to it.hope my first contribution to the forum is useful for someone

diesel newb from BC
greetings all, just bought my first diesel, a 99 2500 quad cab, finally got the Cummins i've always wanted :)while not new to wrenching my own rides (i've been running jeeps for a few years now) diesels are a whole new world to me, so i'm here to read, creep, learn and hopefully get to be useful enough to contribute eventually.
