Grounds and electrical stuff.
Just wanted to mention that while doing this mod on my own truck I was having issues with the lights inside and outside dimming intermittently.. low and behold the auxiliary neg cable going to the block was more than half rotten inside the black wrap.. if the wrap wants to come of super easy it’s more than likely corroded on the inside my instincts told me to rip it off and look inside but my pocket book was saying no that’s 1guage copper but it really isn’t bad to replace

Definitely better I must agree mine did definitely improve the boost lag time and I’d swear it improved my fuel economy as well.. mine is also long gone been thinking bout just a scoop onthe fender instead something much more professional looking

Everyone post a picture of your truck!
So I did something hilarious to mine when I ruined the fender and door.. I had tried to build an acrylic air intake box but vibration destroyed it.. the original air intake was removed by the previous owner.. I had been doing a lot of research on forced air injection and felt like mine was lacking mind you I was drinking heavily in these days so I had zero dollars... it worked amazingly tho I’d just put a lid on the bucket when it rained and bam.. it was the talk of my town for a long while.. I ended up replacing the bucket with an old pooper pot for the bedside was ceramic coated with red rim the bottom was already rotted out..

Vp44 finally done
So the intermittent dead pedal when first starting is how it actually started on my truck. I was surfing through the forum reading about other people’s issues and I’m pretty sure I read that moparman tells someone they coulda saved some money getting help from the forum maybe get a good remanded injection pump for 1200 through someone he knows so I’ll probably try that first. I def understand the what if it ain’t the vp and I spend over a 1000 and it doesn’t fix it.. be sad day.

Vp44 finally done
So I’ve been through the electrical and I’ve done the ground references and have thrown the 0216 code since I bought the truck but I got away with it for a long time by getting an air dog and improving the fuel to the pump (at mopar1973mans suggestion) and it went away for a yr or two but now I’m consistently getting the dead pedal again and throwing the code again I’m pretty sure the best way to fix it is replace the vp44 just really looking for mopar1973man to send me the info to buy one from the forum cuz I trust his opinion thx for ur time and anyone else who wasted their time reading this.. my truck is an 01 24v ho 6 sp stock injectors

is my vp44 shot
Don’t give up youll find it don’t forget to check the filter housing top make sure it’s sealed properly think it has a o ring on it.. i bypassed mine for airdog 2 micron so been a few years since I messed with the original one sucks your having so much trouble always turns out to be something stupid I was sure I did when I have these problems..

Don’t just continue to crank the truck pull one pipe completely loose from the intake manifold.. turn key on and off twice should start pump for filter refil when fuel comes out of that one put it back completely tight I usually start with the front one going to the back.. one at a time when u have fuel coming out of all of them u should try to crank it I’ve actually had to block the pipe with my finger for it to start with deisel out of it I guess it can get vapor locked somehow Just to clarify if fuel doesn’t come out first try turn the key on and off twice again u should hear the pump running don’t overheat the pump trying..

So sometimes this happens with a diesel can be hella hard to get fully primed seems u got the pump for sure primed and need to get all injector pipes filled.. don’t give up..

Hi Everybody ...from Texas
I would start with your ground wires these year models have several ground wire issues can cause a mess of trouble.
-
is my vp44 shot
Good flow to vp should be spraying everywhere not barely trickling out make sure there is no air in the line going into the vp before doing the injector lines.. also u can try bleeding one line at a time instead of cracking them all.. I apologize I got busy yesterday.. I hope you get this figured out.. seems most in the thread know what they talking bout so u didn’t need me that much haha.. from person experience with water pumps u can prime em easily hundreds of times and that one time too much water / fluid excapes the chamber it will still pump just not to full potential it is practically vapor locked can’t push the bubble out.. same can happen in the radiator if u fill it too fast.. also if u have a spare battery laying around u can run pos and neg directly to the pump so ur not constantly waiting on it.. Just realized ur pump location is under the hood behind the filter housing.. one of the worst spots cuz the pump gets way too hot.. if this is the case the pump is way diff than what I was picturing in my head more than likely explains the confusion still concepts are the same also wouldn’t need a battery just two pieces of wire long enough to reach ur battery

I apologize for the confusion when u removed the pump did any fuel come out of it? it has two places for fuel to come out sometimes three depending on your pump.. when u buy them new they usually have hydronic fluid or atf in them with the seals so they are already primed.. if u didn’t remove any fittings and it has no cracks or leaks there is really only two explanations left and that’s that the pump needs primed or is bad.. more than likely it just needs primed like dripley suggested.. also there is several locations for the pump for these yr models so may be why some of my suggestions are confusing to u. If u take the pump out and fill it all the way up with fuel or atf fluid before reinstalling it this will prime the pump and keep u from ruining it by sucking all that air through it
-
is my vp44 shot
How much fuel did u let pour out cuz if u dumped it explains ur problem If it’s past a certain point it cannot prime itself
-
is my vp44 shot
U could take the line loose from the filter housing if it is still hooked up and fill it with diesel/ atf4 if u get someone else to fill it while u crack the hose on the to tank side maybe u can get it primed that would explain the sucking air noise it can get vapor locked just like any other pump
-
is my vp44 shot
So probably need to take it back out and make sure there is no cracks in the aluminum plate that the hose fittings screw into.. sounds like you have found your problem u just need to figure out where it’s coming from.. maybe u have the return hose and the tank hose swapped
-
is my vp44 shot
Is it one of the units with the filter built into it or is it just the pump with the aluminum plate
-
is my vp44 shot
If the raptor 100 has any air in it won’t pump to full pressure and will ruin itself if it isn’t full.. feel the pump after trying to run it if it’s super hot it isn’t any good hope u figure it out I’d also check ur pick up if it’s messed up and can’t draw properly
-
is my vp44 shot
If u just changed the fuel pump and lines with old ones make sure none of them are leaking I’d hate for u to spend all that money and it be a simple thing like oring inside of aftermarket hoses or ur filter not being properly seated take the filter back off and make sure it is completely full
