  1. ok good! I thought maybe it was going out again! thanks for the info moparman!!! ... and I got another question how rough should the idle be I know how loud they should be but it sound like it has such a bad tick some where and I have been thinking valves. I did have an exhaust leak when I had the manifold bolts replaced so could that have made the valves on the cylinder tick some?
  2. I got my turbo bearings replaced and manifold bolts for exhaust side replaced too. now I have been seeing a drop of RPMs no when in park it was always right around 850 RPMs before now they have been going down to 830 and now down to 810 and 800 when just sitting in park. is this normal or is the vp44 going out now
  3. how much and to ship it Kotta390? im up in Bismarck nd
  4. What type of metal should I use for the BHAF heat shield and thickness? Going to put in this weekend if I can get the right metal to cut. the other question is the heat blanket attached to the top of the hood does that need to come off too?
  5. nope didn't have a k&n filter. Maybe it looks like that because of that oil seal has a small leak. Then I might as well get it cleaned and took apart and new seal put in.
  6. anyone got anything on the turbo?
  7. Got the turbo images now and the bearing play was fine but in one picture there is something on the one fin.
  8. how do I put pictures up on here? I got them of the turbo and I just can't figure it out
  9. I will try and post some pic of the turbo this weekend.
  10. with valves i just don't trust myself enough because i get very picky about thing and i don't have that much experience doing that. well with the turbo it sounds alright but it has like a spider sound to it like one of the fins has a chip on it. it hard to explain how it sound but had other people listen to it when driving and sounds a little funny...They are going to take it all apart and clean it and check bearing if it needs new ones. i should be able to do the thermostat then. I thought it would have to be drain first before doing it
  11. I have 196000 miles on my truck now and was thinking of taking it in to a mechanic to do a tune up on the valves and get the turbo cleaned. I am also going to have them do the thermostat to a 190 and have them go through my wiring on my column gauges and redo them because who ever put them in before I bought must not have done it the best way and took corners and might have them look at the a/c... just wondering if any other things I should just have them check on while its in the shop? I only want it down for like 3 weeks because I live in Bismarck and im taking it over to Jamestown because they have good rates and I know the people working on it has done good work on other trucks for one of my buddys.
  12. I tried number 1 form here in Bismarck again and I had slight gelling issues again but then I found this Yukon blend of diesel and wow does that stuff work never have to put other stuff in with it and never have had a problem gelling or power loss and its on the plus its 2 cents cheaper then number 1
  13. I have 180 degrees thermostat and my goes up and down all the time this winter 180 to 165 and when it is summer nerver really goes over 180 even in 90 degrees weather and doesn't ever get below 170 in the heat
  14. I would try getting a new instrument cluster that could be the problem
  15. I meant after I get the fuel all heated up and change fuel filter if there was a way to turn up the pump pressure. sorry for the miss under standing
  16. Is there a way to turn the pressure up some on the airdog?
  17. yeah im going to buy one here tomorrow. Ilikeoldfords I live over here in the Bismarck/Mandan area. lucky I still have my Pontiac to drive around in since the truck is still down. getting it in a heated shop tomorrow night then changing fuel and water separator in the morning. diesel place around town said to try that and if that don't work they think it could be something else not working right.
  18. the 100W is 8.3amp load @ 12 V DC and the website says around 200 degrees F
  19. yes I am using anti-gel im using howes right now and number 1 fuel. I like that set up mopar1973man. I found this online and was going to try it. here is the website http://utahbiodieselsupply.com/fuelfilterheater.php I think this will clear my problem right up but wanted to ask you guys if this would be the thing to do. or make a box to go around the filter to keep a lot of the wind off the filters
  20. up here in ND now and we just got super cold weather and now I got number 1 in its been -15 for the past 3 days now and I have a problems of jelling up. I know the tank isn't Jelling up anymore it just when I go driving around I start to jell up and I think it comes from where the airdog is mounted and not getting any heat. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with Filters to cold.
  21. blinks still work when the fuse blows but when i put a new one in the park lights work. i have gauges installed right now but they just got a fuse tap on the cigarette fuse number don't know which number that is again but ill look tomorrow. - - - Updated - - - i will post pics of what it looks like tomorrow to help out on what i am saying
  22. i have a 1999 dodge ram 2500 diesel and my interior dash lights don't work and i have checked all fuses and are good but when i put the dimmer switch up to high i blows my parking light fuse. i bought a new interior cluster it didn't change anything so going to return that. I do have 3 lines on the back were taped into by last ownershere they are solid black with yellow strip and solid pink with red strip and brown but no new wires going to them now. very frustrated with it might talk to dodge dealership to get a wire diagram printed out figure out what is going wrong.
  23. well i tried doing the silicon around the headlights last week and seems to be keeping moisture out but not as good as i thought. Maybe i missed a spot but i took my time when putting it on and letting it dry. where did you buy your headlight and HID from and what did you pay? I might be thinking of getting them if bulbs keep braking on me.
  24. well I think i found out how to keep moisture out now and i tryed a small hole on the bottom side just to let it breath better and the moisture has been going away now and it only has been a couple of days so im going to try that and if i have to seal that hole up it will be easy to do it. thanks for the help guys
  25. I just put in new headlights on my truck about 3 months ago and the low beam bulb keep breaking now. There is moisture in the headlight and was wondering if that would be the problem and if it is how do i keep the moisture out?
