Need a wheel bearing, are these crap?
I've had manual hubs on other trucks and they have their fair share of problems too. Inspection time isn't till july, I have slight movement in the drivers side, can barely feel it but I'm sure they'll nail me for it. I'll try the cheapies out. Worst I'd be out is 100 bucks. If they last 50k that would take me 5 or 6 years, the chances of me having the truck still would be slim anyways

Suggestions on OIL
Of course, but even the store brand oils meet those requirements. I'm not afraid of using store brand oils, it's just re-branded/brand name oil. Somewhere, once upon a time, I found a website that listed all the store brand oils and who REALLY made them. It was pretty interesting. Honestly, I've only changed the oil in my truck once since I've had it (Delo was on sale) but this theory has applied to everything I've ever owned...except my bike . My bike has a wet clutch with a couple known design flaws. Synthetics seem to band aid a few of the symptoms.

truck not starting, possible security key problem?
Cool, I'll give the new key a try and look into the bypass, thanks!

truck not starting, possible security key problem?
Honestly the alarm system is cool but not something I would have installed. It does just about everything, keyless entry, rolls up windows, turns lights on/off, paging etc. I can even set it up to start the truck at a certain time everyday or start it every couple hours and shut it back off 15 minutes later. I have thought of removing the system but I think I'd have to take it somewhere. I didn't install it and there's wires running/spliced/tapped in everywhere. Plus it's so random. Like I said before, it's only done it a few times in the six months I've had the truck. I may just go ahead and have it removed. The truck did also come with a ton of stereo/av equipment which I assume is the reason the alarm was installed....fuggit, I have insurance:lmao2:

truck not starting, possible security key problem?
No codes...just cranks and doesn't start. Get out, hit the remote start it fires right up. It's done this about 3 times in the last 6 months.

Shocks
I've had the monroes on for about a week now. Man what a difference. My dad always commented on how much my truck rode like a tank compared to his 2500 GMC. I'd venture to say they're pretty close now. I know that Monroe maybe isn't the "have to have brand" but I'll keep them....if they go bad in 20k miles I'll cash in on the lifetime warranty and get a new set:cool:. Funny thing is I only bought the fronts. I had a set of rears from my 1500 in the garage. Took them off the 1500 after a couple months to install a set of load equalizing shocks (coil overs). I'll be damned if they weren't the same length as the 2500's shocks. The adjustable Pro Comp MX6's were cool if your into serious offroading but I'm not. I offroad to my favorite hunting spot and that's about it. --- Update to the previous post...

truck not starting, possible security key problem?
I have an 05 with the "chip key", I also have a audiovox 670 2 way alarm/remote start. On a couple occasions the truck wouldn't start with the key but would by remote start. The truck would crank but the security light on the dash flashes. I assume it's a problem with my key....does that sound right? Only thing is the remote start is only supposed to bypass the security key during remote starts, once the key is inserted, turned to run and brake is depressed it cancels the remote start and returns the security to normal. The truck always stays running Anyways, I only have one key and the price Dodge wants for a new key is fuggin ridiculous. I found blank chip keys online for around $15 (My dealer wants $75 before programming). They would still need to be cut and programed by a dealer/locksmith. Anyone ever use these keys? Am I missing something with my diagnosis? __________________

Thanks for the warm welcome. I plan on doing some mods to the truck after we "recover" from Christmas. I'm sure I'll have all kinds of stupid questions for ya's. I've been educating myself on programmers, guages and have been eyeballing this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-5-07-Dodge-Cummins-5-9-Replacement-4-Hi-Flo-Muffler-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3efcba9e12QQitemZ270528060946QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories I'm trying to stay "tow friendly" and want to avoid torching the tranny.

Hello. My name is Jason and I'm a forumoholic. I have an '05 2500 QCSB 4x4 and you can tell by the picture what I primarily use it for:cool:. Pretty much stock drivetrain wise. Planning some "light" mods to help out with towing. I do have a bunch of interior electronics mods compliments of the previous owner. NAV/DVD, headrest/sun visor monitors, and MA components, amp, subs. Glad to be here!
