engine oil 15w40 or 10w30 (winter)
-35 C is -31 F if the converter works rightthat is pretty darn cold. if it was me i would be runnin 5w-40 or 10w30, but make sure it is a diesel oil. a 10w-30 gas oil doesnt have the right additive package for a diesel engine. a 5w has better cold flow than a 10w, and rotella syn 5w-40 is pretty easy to get. just my 2 cents.

Winter Front
I used a metabo when I made mine. Ok, everybody keeps talking that the warmer intake air helps mileage. Would there be any merit to removing the BHAF heat shield in the winter?

MPG fooler - Design phase
- MPG fooler - Design phase
I rigged up a gauge off of one of the schrader valves before I put the big line kit on it. had 10+ driving around. ordered a gauge for the cab few days ago, should be coming. I bought this truck, one because it was cheap, but two figured that it would be great for a fuel meiser, being reg cab 2wd. can't get any lighter. don't know if i will play with 2 cycle or not. we run b5 around here.- MPG fooler - Design phase
this truck had never been tweaked in the past as far as I know. Thats what the previous owner said and it looks like it hasn't been played with. I put a Quad mileage box on it two weeks ago. I'm guessing around 1 mpg so far. yeah 245/75/16s (a mastercraft AT) on the stock rims. also went with a big line kit to help the stock in-tank pump. I know its not the best, but it will have to do for now.- MPG fooler - Design phase
Bought a 2000, reg cab, 2wd, 4.10s, auto a month ago. bed is empty, 245s, and drive 57 everywhere (around 1900). best I have seen so far is 16.4 mpg. I am in the flatest land in the country, NW Ohio. Was hoping for at least 20. Glad I joined the site. This is some darn good reading. Let me know if I can help. - MPG fooler - Design phase
