  1. Now that Quadzilla has shut down and the others have apparently changed their tuning to comply with EPA regs what is everyone planning on using?Rick
  2. ALWAYS disconnect the batteries (both) when working on the electrics. Any kind of short will put a spike in the system and you just found out what the end result can sometimes be. A hint, BEFORE installing the new ECM, disconnect the batteries.
  3. My wastegate is apparently stuck shut. For a long time I was trowing overboost codes and defeuling. Then I out a XZT on it and no longer worried about it. The boost fooler in the XZT made the sticking wastegate work to my advantage. Well now it appears that the wastegate is not doing anything anymore and I have bounced of of 30 lbs. of boost a couple of times. I don't know how far the fooler goes or if it totally cuts out the defuel and codes. I do not want to be blowing the head gaskets out.Rick
  4. OK, Got the replacement pressure relief spring that Geno's overnighted to me and put it in and I am back in business. Totally different spring, somebody screwed up at FASS! Pressure is actually a bit on the high side at 23 idle but it does not seem to be giving me any issues. Went for a test ride and pressures look good. I have 23 at idle and 18 at WOT with the Quad on. I have not relocated the pump yet, bad weather and a job coming up on Friday that involves a long drive so I am just leaving it as is for now. Thanks again to Geno's for bailing me out on this one.Rick
  5. Yea, I got that with my pump. Got hold of Geno's and I have to say the customer service is first rate. Seems that there were some DDRP pumps that left FASS with the wrong pressure relief springs in them. Of coarse FASS didn't tell the distributors, just gave then the right springs when the complaints started coming in. They are overnighting me the spring ad a relocation kit. Meanwhile FASS e-mails me and said, "It sounds like you have a weak relief spring, we will send you a new spring." So basically as far as FASS is concerned they screwed up but you have to fix it! OR you can send them the pump and they will check it out and then send it back. That could be pricey for someone who is paying to have the work done on their truck.
  6. No Adjustments that I can find on the DDRP. I may have mislead when I said mine was the 95 gph. Someone gave two choices for the DDRP and mine is the higher choice. After a lot of checking it is not 95, it looks like maybe 75. But there is no adjustment that I can see unless it is under the mount and I am not going to remove that and void the warranty.
  7. OH, I am a VERY UNHAPPY camper!!! Spent three hours in a freezing rain putting the DDRP in and now I have LESS pressure than I had before! 10Lbs. at idle and 6lbs. at 2000 rpm with no load. Can't drive it that way! Took forever to get fuel from the tank and I just had a feeling it was going to be bad. Not running with the pump running I can get 13 lbs.. Now I am absolutely sure Geno's will send me a replacement but I am 60 years old with a very bad back, I can't do this twice! This one time will have me laid up for a week. They make it sound like the install is simple, well on a 4x4 it is but a 2 wheel drive is a different animal. NO access from below. - - - Updated - - - Well took it out just to see how it would act since I know tech support will ask, again, 10-12 lbs. at idle and drops to 4 lbs. :wow: during MILD acceleration with the Quad off. Needless to say truck is down for another week and I am pissed!!!
  8. If I get good pressures from this pump I may add a filter and water separator down on the frame, get it all before it even gets to the pump. If that affects the pressure to much I will just move the setup to my Chevy CUCV military pick-up with the good old mechanical pump. That way I do not lose any money.
  9. Mine is the 85GPH with the filter in the box and directions to install it ahead of the pump. No filter, no warranty! You better believe it is going in. Rick
  10. Well I called Geno's and talked to Andy and told him my plans about remote mounting the FASS DDRP. He asked if I already had the remote mount and I told him no I didn't. He said not to get it, the DDRP is substantially larger than the stock pump and the remote puts it in the way of road debris. He also told me it is a gear pump and not a rotary vane type and the engine vibration would not bother it at all. So I have the pump on order and we will see what happens. I will be mounting a filter ahead of the pump. Anyone else running this setup?Rick
  11. I have the XZT so it is just a switch on the dash. I turned it off as soon as I saw how low the pressure was going. It did not drop at all with the Quad off. The symptoms remind me of a motor overload switch which I seriously doubt this pump has or a coil which gets hot and goes open circuit. If this is an induction type motor that could be it. It will do ot at idle or if I hold it at 1500 rpm, makes no difference. I hope I find it is just the motor. If it turns out to be the ECM I might just find another ignition controlled circuit and use that to trigger a relay for a new pump mounted on the frame rail.
  12. That was going to be tomorrows step. I will hook my Vantage into it and see what is happening. I just wanted to get opinions on whether this was a common type of failure. My luck will be that I put a meter on it and it will not fail, Happens every time.
  13. I have a problem that is bothering me. I suspect the lift pump is going bad but I want to be sure before Idrop the money on a new one. This has been a rough couple of weeks and money is tight.I had my gauge acting up and bouncing all over (Glowshift). They sent me a new sender and all was good. Took it for a test ride and verified that I had pressure. Not real good pressure but 12lbs. at idle and 6 at WOT with the Quad on. Was talking to a friend and the pressure just dropped to zero. Power off type of drop, not gradual. Truck stayed running. Shut it down and restarted it and pressure came up for a little bit and then off again. Put a mechanical gauge on along with the electrical and verified that it is shutting down. Tapped on pump to no avail. This was a NAPA pump bought three years ago. At that time I had bought the truck and found that it had no fuel pressure, Nobody knows for how long, previous owner told me it always ran well. So this si the second time. My VP is on borrowed time but right now I need to know what you guys think is the issue here?Rick
  14. I just went back to stock on mine. Put the silencer ring back and put the stock filter back on. I actually think it improved the response on the engine. I check mileage very religiously so I will know in a couple of weeks if it made a difference.Rick
  15. Got mine yesterday, Don't know if I have a 53 and not sure if I want to know.:rolleyes:Rick
