Thank you John Tractorman for an excellent post. I think it should be a sticky in the 47re Trans article(s).

 

Only thought I can add is to add a trans temp gauge and that you should not be running large diameter wheels/ tires with an automatic trans. It forces much leverage against all the running making everything work harder. Though I think you mentioned changing the Differential gears to 4:10's.
