Transmission New

Recommended Posts

Just had my transmission gone through by a local specialist. Had all wearing components/solenoids replaced, shift kit, and single disc lower stall billet cover torque converter installed. I've noticed a substantial improvement in drivability; in town it acts as if the truck lost 2K lbs! The tighter TC makes all the difference in the world - I'm well pleased. The transmission man threw all my old components in a box & gave them to me - nothing burned up but approaching the wear limits (177k miles). One thing I've noticed that is different is that the idle rpm is slightly lower & EGT runs a bit higher when idling in gear, like at a stop light. Guess that is to be expected with a lower stall TC. The turbo timer is kicking on more than it used to around town (set at 375). Last mod planned is injectors; RV275s or maybe a set of 60 HP. The rest is just corrosion control.Joe in St Louis
