Engineering, The perfect partnership between physics and design, a tangible record of man greatest achievements, created out of necessity perfected with technology, built to endure the test of time. The world is altered by these creations, some assist our way of life some promote our demise, engineering is a complex mysterious and ingenious idea brought to life by invention, machines used to build machines, some have limited purpose superceded by a new idea, but every so often that idea become a mechanical masterpiece, one that can not be surpassed and can not be made redundant by a new design, the two stroke engine is one such masterpiece it's power to weight ratio is Superior, 30 % higher then the equivalent capacity 4 stroke, it naturally aspirated, needing no assistance from a accelerator pump or fuel injection, it receives a full power cycle with just two strokes of its piston, induction, compression, combustion and exhaust, there are no valves controlling each phase, instead the piston reveals intake and exhaust ports in the lower half of the cylinder, The piston travels up the cylinder like a syringe drawing air and fuel into the crank case through a one way reed valve. It's an organic exchange of vacuum and pressure as the piston pumps fuel and air into the cylinder. At 10,000 RPM the spark plug ignites 166 contained explosions of power every second.

A group of engineering students are standing outside their class room looking at the flag pole, for their daily assignment they needed to find the height of the pole, they were at it for hours trying to figure out how to measure how tall the flag pole is coming up with no unanimous decision when the janitor walks by and asks what they are up to, after they explain their task to him he asks why they just do not unbolt the base and lay it on the ground and measure it.

To that one of the students looks at him and says " But then we would be measuring how wide it is and not how tall it is".

There you have the mentality of an engineer.

You are describing an older two cycle engine.

And only 30% efficient.

Electric, at 85% efficiency is the future fellas.

How nice it would be to be given sufficient funds to follow it through, complete with solar charging.
