OTC GENISYS WITH PATHFINDER 99 CARTRIDGE, will it work for a 2000?

Guys, I just dug out my old scantool that comes loaded with domestic vehicles to 1999, just a year shy of my new to me 2000 2500 4x4 diesel. I am sure if I goto OTC they will say I need to buy the update software, but I think it ought to work don't you? Either that or does anyone out there have an update they want to sell for cheap?

it should work if it can do:can bus j1939 protocoland i think that is why my local autozone's reader didn't get codes for me... i don't think it does the can bus
