IS IT COMPLICATED JOB TO DROP VALVE BODY AND INSTALL 3-4 ACCUMULATOR 

 

I installed a new Goerend/ Dynotec Transmission last February as some of you may have noticed in my sig. It works Great except I've noticed that it shifts into 4th gear Hard.  So i figured it was probably just settling in where it was new and may just need adjustment later on and i had gotten busy with business and other things so i just kinda put it off till later and see if it got better, i was running highway when i did drive it so no big deal, well lately I've been riding it around local and its become a PITA.

 

    So i Called Ken at DYNOTEC and asked him about it and he insured me it is an easy fix. According to what he told me via Dave Goerend that some of the 2ND Gen auto Trucks have this issue from factory, "No one knows why"but its something in the PCM,  but Dave Goerend has designed a Special Accumulator/solenoid to cure this. they do not install it on all trans cause only a few have this issue and if one doesn't  have this issue it can make the final 3-4 shift soft

 

   So i have to drop pan and valve body to install this part, Never really done much with auto transmission's and wondering is this pretty easy or do i need to find a shop to do this??

        He has already sent me the part Free,"no charge"  these Are Really Great People to deal with..

I fell victim to the same thing, trying to find torque specs when I was installing new injectors. Looks like your transmission up grade is working out good. In your signature you already have a Goerend/Dynotec transmission, when it was built was this a option or something that is only done with upgraded transmission. Will this increase your ability to handle more horse power....how much do you think? The reason I am asking is I will be looking for another Dodge Cummins soon that is automatic and this might be something I can do once again. My first Dodge was a 68 and my second was a 71, I put a valve body kit in at the time but was probably to stupid to know if I did it correctly, like a bull in a china store, I don't think I keep anything as clean as it should be but back then you did all of your mechanics and engine rebuilding and learn as you go. 

 

With all that you are running on your Cummins it must move pretty good. Thannks

    ** Apparently, what happens id the T/C Locks or re-locks at the same time as the shift from 3rd gear to 4th, i think some refer to this as "Stack Shifts"..its a PCM program thing. and sense you can't do anything about that this is the fix.

From what you are saying they know their business and stand behind their business. Of all the luck you ended up with a truck that had this issue. You might have just told a few other members with the same problem what to do to solve it. Great job, great post.

 They are very GOOD TO DEAL WITH And they don't leave you hang'n.... Ken at Dynotec is really good and he is the specialized tech for 47RE 48RE TRANS. builds. thats all he himself deals with..

 

  When Goerend stopped actually building the Trans Oh" bout 2yrs ago Dave Goerend kinda formed a Deal with DYNOTEC / Ken Scamp,,To build there Transmissions using all there

Components.. i think maybe they already new each other pretty well..

 

        If your like me an not familiar with auto transmissions and don't have that much time, IT was the way to go for me. I could have bought all the components from Goerends and had a trans shop to build it but the problem is there is none around me that i would trust and they really don't won't to fool with it once you tell them you will be furnishing all the parts.. if i had choose that route i maybe could have saved around 800.00...BUT   I wouldn't have 5-yr 350,000mile warranty and lifetime warranty on T/C.

I paid 3950,00 +750.00 for billet input shaft,  I've got Triple Disk 15blade 800/300 stall T/C

 

****Oh" yeah i forgot: They do some special machining to the Cases to allow more flow for extra lube and performance, i think maybe thats why they shift out like the do, very quick but no "JERKY JERKY,,Very smooth.. my issue was with 3-4 shift because of T/C lockup/re-lock timing and they said thats the PCM

I would do it the same way...go to DYNOTEC. Do they pull and install your transmission if you bring your truck to them? It sounds like you bought the best combination of everything to work well with your mods. I'm a lot smarter than what I write believe it or not. But when I am out of my league I don't mind sounding like I'm not hitting on all cylinders, I get to take more in and compare it to what I know. My hard headed days are behind me and I am will to learn from anyone that will teach me. Michael and a few others have passed on some great tips and explanations to help me understand the limitations and extreme  you can do with a 2nd generation Dodge Cummins. What you shared with me is great, I figured the Automatics would be the weakest point besides the VP44 issues. Won't be long before Mopar1973Man finds all the ins and outs of the VP which will make things better for all who deal with the issues. I can always call Ken or find a Gorend dealer that installs when I find a truck I want. Thanks again.

 No, they ship you the new trans. and you ship thin back your core. you responsible for install. i Had a shop {Countryside transmissions} pull my old one and slide in the new.

  I Actually didn't know it at the time i bought my Goerend but They actually can build pretty nice transmission themselves, i know a few that running them and they will use whatever brand stuff you want .. I've got them hooked up with Goerend and Dynotec now that they've done mine..

I really appreciate learning about Goerend and Dynotec transmission information you shared with me. I believe God has a plan and purpose for every persons life. I was directed to a young man who owns and operates and A/C and Mechanical Repair Shop, the primary business is A/C. Fixed my granddaughters car A/C that was sitting at another shop for over 3 weeks, located all the issues and leaks in less than 30 minutes. He fixed my trucks leak that filled up my floor board with water condensation from the A/C drain and installed a new blower motor, big help for me. I told him I was setting my brother up with my truck and buying an automatic. He said are you interested in an 02 quad cab long bed automatic? The body is a little ruff but it just had a new dash and A/C duct work with new factory motors, and so on with a totally rebuilt transmission and A/C compressor that was used to pull a 40 ft toy hauler for $5,500.00. I am leaving now to go look at it.

What an idiot I am at times, all the hype for nothing. This guys wife drove the 2002 (?) and what was for sale was a 1997 extended cab 12 valve automatic. The owner owns a transmission shop and was heavy into racing. The 12 valve was quite, my 24 valve was twice as loud. It has 239,000 miles on the clock the interior is not bad and it also has an upgraded dash that needs some adjusting and a couple of new switches. It has a limited slip rear end and the transmission shifts hard and fast. I know this is weird but it feels like it shifts about 6 or 7 times but I know nothing about the characteristics of the 47RE or the convertor. Looks like the owner put some muscle in the shifts. He pulls a 40 ft. toy hauler to the west coast every year. I don't understand how quite it is compared to other 12 valves I have been around. I don't know what this truck is worth but I guess I could drive it until I find what I want later.
