Hey all,

Now that I have all new/reman power steering system components, I'm wondering if I would benefit from throwing in an inline filter? I've heard of the Magnafine before. Are they good? What are you guys using if you have PS fluid filter and where should I place it?

  • There is no T fitting on a 2001 dodge power steering/hydroboost system.  There are two separate return lines to the PS reservoir.  The PS return line flows more fluid, that's where I'd put it.

  • You get what you pay for.  Your truck has gone this long with out it,  don't be in a hurry and get the good stuff.

  • Here's another option.   http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/94-98-non-powertrain/1584354-spin-power-steering-filter.html

I got the power steering flushed and the filter installed.  I found it one of the simpler things to service and add to the truck.  O'Reillys has the filter in a box with their in house label on it but inside is a Magnaflow inline transmission filter.  The hose clamps that come with it are to small, you need #8 size.

If added an article in the 24 Valve 2ed Generation,  Axles, Suspension & Brakes about this.

Thanks for the link.  How about a picture of it installed?  I really like this idea, I would also like to add a drain line option with a valve, that would make changing the fluid much quicker.

The article is now up and can be viewed in the 24 valve 2ed gen. section.

A T-fitting in the return line with a valve attached to it would work.
