I just installed a reman 5.9 in a 2007 2500 4x4 started truck and idled fine went to test drive started to accelerate could hear the turbo start to build boost and then it started knocking and smoking bad

Since you just installed the engine, I would check all air intake connections for the charge air circuit for boost leaks from the turbocharger outlet to the air intake plenum on the engine.

Any error codes? Might give a clue as well to something that might not be plugged in fully? 

No codes double checked everything
