I've been having problems with my 02 2500 where I'll start having dead pedal issues after driving for 20 or so minutes. No codes, nothing obvious. I've got a fairly new APPS on the truck, the VP44 seems to be good, its always had good fuel pressure, pulls good up to 3200 rpm, no white smoke, no starting issues. Also unplugged my adrenaline just to make sure it wasn't being screwy. 

 

The only thing I've really be able to narrow down is that the farther I drive, the further off the speed reading on my adrenaline will be, and eventually it will start spiking up to like 150+ mph and that's when I start having dead pedal issues. Anyone have any idea what could cause this? The further I drive, the worst it seems to get. I have no idea what might be causing this. Has anyone else ever had this issue?

I'm going to assume the rear axle speed sensor is failing. If the speed gets above the governed speed limit which I think is 110 MPH then the defueling occurs.

I just noticed that I forgot to mention this, but the speedometer works fine. Could this sensor go out without causing my speedometer to read incorrectly?

Either speed sensor or the ABS module needs rebuilt.

Thanks for the help so far. I just picked up a new sensor but if that doesn't help, is there any way to test the ABS module? Would pulling the fuse for it prevent it if the module is bad?

No speed signal will be given. Module Masters will rebuild that ABS module for mere $130 and 5 year warranty.

So I replaced the speed sensor on the rear diff and it seems to have helped but I still get weird reading from my adrenaline so I guess I'll make sure that all the connections on it and the ABS module are tight. Is there anyway to test the ABS module with maybe a multimeter or something similar?

Are tone rings ever an issue on these trucks? Somehow the one on my old Ford had a single missing tooth and it put my speedometer on crack. 55 mph for a few seconds then it would go crazy for a few seconds then back to normal. Or on my old BMW the connector was completely messed up but everything else was fine but someone put the connector in its proper place so it appeared fine. That one the speedometer was so erratic I completely gave up on using it until i finally just used some female spade connectors to rig up my own "plug".

I don't think thats what it is. I replaced the rear diff speed sensor, it basically fell apart once I got it out. Unhooked the batteries for a little while. Seems to have fixed it so far. Hasn't been long enough to say its without a doubt fixed, but so far it seems like it.
