Posted August 1, 201014 yr anyone else have troubles with windshield wipers not returning to down position when the steering column switch is rotated off?
August 2, 201014 yr Owner I'm assuming the wipers stop on the glass and that's it? That would most likely be a broke reed switch in the wiper motor. I've had this exact same problem on my 1973 Charger SE. When I took the motor assembly apart I found the reed broke off intenrally. I end up just replacing the wiper motor...
August 2, 201014 yr Author they run untill i shut the switch off then they stop were ever they are if they happen to b in the full down position =great ....if not = poor vision due to wipers on the glass somewhere:ahhh::ahhh:frankly it drives me nutz.....I realize i paid nothing for this truck but i would like it to work right or at leastb able to b easy fix
August 2, 201014 yr Owner Well the cheap side of me says to pull the wiper motor off and see if you can fix it. The relable side of me says to just replace the wiper motor... Price is $65 bucks at NAPA and there is a core charge...
August 2, 201014 yr Author well i guess i will try pulling the motor first ...then calling napa if that doesnt work:hyper:
August 2, 201014 yr Owner See the poor mans ideas always come first because what do you have to lose in trying to fix the old wiper motor? Nothing its already broke so if you fix it (even with a bandaid) your ahead...
August 4, 201014 yr Interested in seeing what it is for sure, mine does the same thing...intermittent and both speeds work fine, just wont return to home when shutting them completely off
April 9, 201114 yr Simple problem, the park switch is broke and forgets to tell the wiper motor where to stop.
