Had this issue once before for a split second but truck jumped back to having power. Tonight though no luck. Was driving home and RPMs were stuck at 2000rpm and 20mph.

If i pushed the pedal all the way down still same rpms just held at 2k. Truck is an 01 auto and p0720 is the only code to show. Fuel pressure is good. Truck drives great tell I get to 20mph lol.

  • alright guess my old edge can watch the TPS we are at 0 at idle like it should be. Trucks running great for the last 3 days. Idle RPM does fall to 750rpm according to my edge tuner when comming to a s

You need to do it after you drive it so grid heaters aren't cycling, or unhook them from battery. Even if truck is warm they will still be cycling,  so best way is to drive it above 25mph I believe an

  • Agreed. But his meter doesn't show 0.57 volts, it shows 0.57 mv, or .00057 volts.   Low quality meter or not, it's on the mV scale. Will likely be more accurate than a meter that's sitting o

Looks like max AC ripple of about 30 mV peak to peak, divide by 2 to get 15mV peak, divide again by √2 (square root of 2, or 1.414) to get 10.6mV RMS.

alright new timbo app is installed have not had any issue yet see how things go over the next few days. I did notice my old APPS when installed showed 6% open when off throttle. The new TIMBO apps shows 12%.  Should I be seeing 0% or not?

Should see 0%. Have you performed the APPS relearn procedure?

  • Author

I did the relearn. The % readings are witb the truck on at idle

I'm out of my level of expertise here, other than knowing it should be 0% with your foot off and 100% when it's to the floor. Is it the same with the truck not running, key on? Is the idle rpm correct?

TPS should show 0%... Hopefully, you DID NOT adjust for previous voltage. This is NOT REQUIRED on a Timbo's its a matter of getting angle right so the contact is in the IDLE position.

As you'll see Timbo's APPS is a electronic free APPS sensor and does NOT use voltage for IVS (Ilde Validation Signal). It all about angle of the bellcrank!

I never did any adjustment with the old sensor. With the timbo I just followed directions and did the relearn process. Idle seems fine about 600-800rpm depending on the temp.

I think maybe my TPS  reading may be  off I found an old thread showing issues with the torque pro app reading wrong for the TPS. So I will run to the parts store tomorrow night and see what their ODB2 read shows. Truck runs great so im guessing its just my scan tool app thats wrong.

Idle should never be below 800 RPM period. When the Timbo's APPS is in IDLE mode the TPS should be ignored and the ECM idle software used.

alright guess my old edge can watch the TPS we are at 0 at idle like it should be. Trucks running great for the last 3 days. Idle RPM does fall to 750rpm according to my edge tuner when comming to a stop and sitting at a red light in Drive. Codes are all clear now that i have the new speed sensor in and no more odd surging now thay I have the TIMBO app installed. Think we are all set!

well sadly happniess only lasts for a few days. Back to po720 code and surging this time though not holding at 2k just seems to jump all back and forth as if it cant find a gear.
