Hi I have a 2001 sport 4x4 Cummins. Just put a early 47re in with a dpc billet single disc tc, deep pan, and I did a trans go shift kit. Not the Torque converter won’t unlock I’ve changed all of the electronics in the tranny and pulled the valve body back apart and have found nothing wrong why is it still doing this???

Need more detail. Are you saying the converter is locked up as soon as you put the truck in gear? Locked in all forward gears? Locked in reverse too? Or when you are driving and get to 2nd/3rd gear it locks and won't unlock? When you say early 47RE, do you mean from an older truck with different electronics in the valve body? @Dynamic maybe able to help with some more info about the symptoms.

It locks when it’s supposed to but when I slow down it won’t unlock causing the truck to stall but if I downshift it manually there is no problem. I changed the electronics from the early version to the late version.

Because it locks when it should, and unlocks when you downshift, I would be inclined to say the problem is internal to the valve body. But I am not an expert, just my opinion.

I’ve already opened it up twice I have it at strictly diesel now

Wait... I can't remember, hopefully someone else does, but if a lockup switch is installed, and you set the switch in 3rd, locking the trans, and pull the lever down to manual second, does the trans downshift and unlock, or does it stay in 3rd locked?

Reason I'd like to know this is because if you're lockup wire is shorter to ground it may act that way. But then, with the shift lever in D, it should be locking up in second, so that's probably not the case. You can lock the converter in Auto 2nd on our trans, just not manual second without valve body modification. Food for thought.

Well I’m thinking about it now and the truck I pulled it out of had a lock up switch but I didn’t want it so I didn’t install it. Is there something I should have done extra to get rid of it?

Try taking out your lock up switch first.  The other thing it might be is that you put a different gov solenoid with wiring harness in.  Being an 01 it should have the silver one.  The earlier 24v's had the round gold one.
