Just curious (because I forgot to look) are the reverse lights also wired through the factory 7 blade socket on the truck? Truck is an '01.

 

They must be, I hooked into a trailer last week that has backup lights and they lit up.

Yes, pin #7 (center pin) of a seven pin trailer connector.  Some trailers will use that center pin for an auxiliary purpose.
