I have a friend with a 3500 that won't start. His friend did a diagnostic and there were no codes but he got a message that said, "1 no trip". I'm wondering what it means and if it's the reason for the no start? Thanks,Rob

--- Update to the previous post...

I'm starting to wonder if the "1 no trip" was a function of the guy's diagnostic tool?

I thought I'd follow up on this. My buddy towed it to the specialty shop. They started it with ether and told him his injectors were bad and he had a cracked throttle body. They also said they were suprised he got 130,000 miles on it because other trucks were coming in with the same problem with less miles. They quoted him $3000 for injector replacement and a new thottle body. Seems funny he could drive the truck with no problems and overnight he gets 6 bad injectors:shrug:

Surprised they did not blow it up with ether... Manual specifically warns NOT TO since the heater grid will ignite it... Not sure if this is true of the common rail trucks. Someone will come along to advise. I don't know what to think of the shop's diagnosis.

What is a cracked throttle body? There is no such thing on a diesel far as I know.

Tell him to get it out of that shop ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not let them touch it at all and have him find a shop with someone working at that has a clue.

kinda what i was thinking...but was trying to help him stay positive about...sounds like someones want to retire off of one job...like at the dealership..they want $3000 for a vp and to install them....who wouldn't do that all day long for 3 grand?:thumbup2::woot:

Someone in the shop isn't playing with a full deck... Diesels don't have throttle bodies...

Just hunting the web I found a set of stock injectors for cheap... ~$1,500

Then you need about couple shops hours to install them...
