GlowShift Fuel Pressure Gauge Problem??!!

Hey gang, Okay a friend of mine just installed a set of used GS gauges I got in on a trade. He has the wires all hooked up and such, grounded to the battery and all. Well his fuel pressure gauge isn't working quite right. When he turns the key on, the other gauges sweep over and back down to zero. Well the FP sweeps up to 30 psi and stays there. Then when he starts the truck it drops to about 26ish psi, then once the truck starts, it goes up to about 33 psi which is the end of the gauge. My question is this: This there a way to test the sensor without just replacing it??:shrug: Fuel pressure doesn't drop with heavy throttle either and the truck doesn't appear to have any after market lift pump. I haven't looked at the truck in person, just over phone calls and text. all you can do is use a test gauge to verify your pressures, I didnt have a test port on my filter so I had to add one, every filter change I check my psi of the glowshift against the test gauge.

there not expensive, you can get them at any auto store.

Came up with an idea to test it. He needs to install a needle valve anyway so we are going to do that, then I can shut it off and see what the gauge reads. If it doesn't change then we know the sender is acting up. If it drops, then we know it is okay. Sounds good uh?:shrug:

did he get it grounded to the battery??? and i believe there are some marks on the sender for the respective wires.

Yeah he grounded it to the negative side of the battery. I'm assuming he got the wires hooked up to their proper places but I've not looked at it myself. We are going to try to look at it tomorrow and I'll check it out.:thumbup2:

I have the same gauge, did you use a "Snubber Valve"? Also i have my 3rd sending unit on mine since Dec. The problem was it had been shaking it to death at the vp44, moved it away with a hose up to the firewall and have not had any trouble since last Spring. The gauge would start to show a higher psi than was really was until it was at 30. i use a mech. oil psi gauge to check each sender out. When i bought the gauges they ask if i had one!

I know he doesn't. We are going to install a needle valve to act like a snubber as on mine mechanical gauge. Thanks for the information though!!:thumbup2:
