Is there a way to tell if my Killer Dow Pin has already been repaired with the KDP Kit?Were all Cummins 5.9 24V 1998.5 manufactured with the KDP problem?Did Cummins ever solve the KDP problem during assembly?Any information will be appreciated, this KDP issue could be a very expensive repair which worries me.

i dont think there is anyway of tell if it was fixed without taking off the timing cover. its a easy fix if its not already done.

Its an issue worth looking at. If you have not found out whether or not the fix has been performed, you will need to open it all up to find out. It is THE MOST important fix of all. If you decide the time taken to open it up to find out is not worth it, you are playing russian roulette.

Its worth the piece of mind opening it up and fixing. I thank God everyday that I have been given the borrowed time I needed to do mine when I got mine. I waited like 2 months after I got the truck. If it had happened before then, I still would have been paying off the truck when all it could do is sit there waiting for a new engine.

BTW, you dont need to spend gobs of money to do the repair. The KDP can be done with the modification of a large fender washer or some thick sheetmetal. Just have to make sure your pin has not fallen out or there is case damage.
