ok so im assuming that my heater core has finally gone, when i have anything on (vent, heater, ac, etc..) strong smell of anti freeze. when i have the a/c on i get the smell plus puffs of white smoke from the vents. the floor is not wet. just want to make sure it id the heater core before i start pulling the dash apart. also while i hav it apart what else should i replace in there? going to check all the vaccume lines etc.. evaporator? switches? thanks again for the help

It's got to be the heater core. I gotta do in my car soon... running the defroster fogs the windshield. It's the about only way Antifreeze comes into the cab.

Mike has a good point. This is probably due to corrosion which means Antifreeze corrosion inhibitor is worn out. I'd certainly do a drain & flush refill with fresh, unless you know for a fact this was done recently. Not enough attention is paid to this. I'm not made of money so I'd notreplace the radiator until it fails but monitor it for sure. On the other hand, the oil cooler failure can be a bigger issue internal failure can cause a big problem. Changing out the oil cooler proactively might be a good idea.

it is not that bad to replace the heat core but just the time consume.... i would just flush the coolant system out. i will do it at my work as i will use the "BG coolant flush" but just direct coolant and water flush not additives...
