Ok I got my trany temp hooked up to my Mag Hytec pan and yea I know it's in the pan but hey. So I hook up to my 32' goose neck 7k empty and head out to pick up a load of drill stem for a fence I am building. I am about 20 miles into this and the temp is still at 100 so I pull over and check the wire and it's good to go, so I feel the pan and it's not hot so probably 100 degree. I get back in and it's up to 105 I get to where I am going and it's still 105, I set there and idle and it goes up to 150 just idleing for maybe 10 min. Get loaded with 25 32' joints maybe 4500 lbs and it comes down to 125 and stay's there all the 30 miles back. Idle in drive while I unload and it's back up to 150, go to town and it's down to 115 ambient temp is 90. :think:With winter coming it wont see above 100 for 5 months :lmao2:

And now you know why it is almost useless to monitor it in the pan. That is what I saw as well until I put it in the hot converter out cooler line and it reads about 30-40 drgrees hotter there and is faster to react to actual tranny temp.

Yeah, I see wide temp fluctuations in mine, as well.. Generally, with 60*F ambient temps, stock pan, I have my temp sensor in the outlet line.. 160-170*F cruising (towing). sitting at light, in drive, it'll climb rapidly to >200*F (in N, D, 2, or 1). Sitting in P, it'll drop some.. Start moving again, and it'll drop to the 180-ish mark..
