I've been leaking a small amount of diesel since my fuel system upgrade. Assumed it was one of the many connections on the filter or injection pump. Could find no sign of leaks there. Crawled under the vehicle. Nothing from the front. Diesel has been dripping off the front drive axle housing. Went behind the front axle and found a drip hanging off the filter drain hose. So I figured I'd open and close it. Started the truck and diesel came out the hose full force. Shut off truck. Opened and closed the valve a number of times. It feels sticky. But finally got it to shut off. Not sure yet if it fixed the slow leak or not. Is that drain valve serviceable? I see its got a screw cap on top. Should I get a whole new valve?

Did a google search and got lots of answers. Looks like I need a new unit or reseal kit.

Since a lot of sediment flows through the drain, I would first flush/clean it thoroughly and see if that fixes it. Many times it's just some crap stick in the valve seat. Hope this helps.

Never had on leak but had one crack once, I broke it while working in the area and had to replace the valve. It was a Cummins part only from fleetgaurd, I had to order it through a local Cummins certified truck shop locally, Dodge couldn't get it seperately, would have had to buy the whole fuel canister from Dodge.

At either Autozone or it's counterpart, there is a selection of about 15 O rings brown in color. I think it was 5.49 for the whole kit. 2 O rings & a couple dabs of vasaline & the valve is all rebuilt. Google it.Ed
