So when I bought my truck it did not come with keychain deal to lock and unlock it. I called the dealer today and they have one for my truck for 85 bucks. But they want another 60 to 70 bucks to program it. Is this something I can do myself. If so how ? I just dont want to make an appointment and waste the extra money if I don't have to.

When I bought the wife's truck, it was missing the extra key FOB. I ordered 2 extras off of eBay and programmed them myself. It was not hard and the key FOB comes with very simple and detailed instructions.

 thanks for the info, I just bought a set

Be sure your rig is even set up with a receiver for remote locks, not all of them have that option.

you can only program it yourself if you have 1 fob that works...i'm in the same boat.... when i bought my truck it had one fob. but thanks to my 3month old baby slobbering on it....the light come on, but the door don't unlock. does anyone know where the trucks receiver is?

Yep I just re read live oaks links in his post and it appears I will have to a fob programmed at the dealer seein's how I don't have have a working transmitter or the drbb2 or whatever it is tool. At least when I get an extra i will be able to do it. I don't know where the trucks reciever is but would it be the same black box with the door bell in it ?? If it is than on my 99 it's below and to the right of the steering wheel behind the lower dash cover on the right side of of the metal dash framework. LB

Doh! Sorry about that! For some reason I was thinking that you had one FOB. The part about no FOB went right past me. I hate when that happens. :o

I wonder if the pickups are like other Chrysler vehicles, we had a Jeep Liberety Renegade and we bought it used and didn't get the 2 oem Fobs with it so bought 2 from dealer and had them program them with the waRNING OF DON'T LOOSE THESE THE cOMPUTER CAN ONLY PROGRAM 4 fOBS. tHE JEEP IS LONG GONE BUT this just came back to mind.

There are modules from alarm co's that add nonfactory fobs even including lock motors.I paid $40 for 2 fobs, receiver and a blinking LED. Input was 5v that it was to get from an alarm but a 5v power supply worked well.

got my ebay fobs, first thing I noticed is they are used. buttons appear OK but the casing is definitely worn.

Yeah, mine were used as well but they had new batteries installed and were in good shape. Way cheaper than buying new FOB's from the dealer.
