Ok guys, I posted over in the CR forum about my brother putting a new turbo on his 05. So I am thinking about buying his he351cw from him, but I have a few questions. First off what is a fair price? 130xxx miles on it no shaft play. Second is it worth it for my second gen? My egts get out of hand quickly with the comp and smarty stacked. Will this cool them down very well? I can use his old down pipe if it will work. What adapters will I need for the oil input, oil return, exhaust manifold ect. When I tow heavy I turn the comp off and run the smarty on 9. Will this be enough fuel to spool the turbo? Any input is appreciated. Remember I'm in college and I'm on a budget!

VP44 crossed the 1000 HP mark fuel only.

That, That is impressive!!! I have to use my truck, but I had no idea people have pushed a VP that far!  :thumb1:  :drool:  :woot:  :burnout:

Thanks for the replies. Do you have any idea how the super B would do egt wise with a smarty/comp stack?

Should be fine ........ but Id go with bigger injectors and timing box like a powerpuck - that way not stressing your vp44

What? Is it only the hotrod vp44's that are able to produce higher HP's? I've heard talk of people cranking 800+ on a vp44...

Only vp44 that will do over ~ 650 is the modified custom builds ... Monster Mike etc. I've heard hotrods going an extra 50-100hp ... but never seen any good threads on it (like actual dyno sheets). Mainly just hear about bad lope and cold starts.

If you want more than 650 - you really have to ppump or monster mike pump. He had problems with a few of his setups too .... but think they are much more stable now (plus he lifetime warranties it).

HOVP44 <SOVP44 <=HRVP <MONSTERMIKE PUMP < PPUMP

(You can hit higher numbers on a vp44 if you spray) - but same for other pumps.

Thats johnny at stainless Diesel - he uses mikes pump ....... pretty sure

Just click on the info of that video - he confirms it there .... monster vp pump

Maybe just the comp with a set of injectors then? I had a powerpuck and it wasn't worth the plastic it was made out of. Will the comp stress the vp badly?

No you'll stress that turbo before the pump. The turbo limits around 500hp .. The pump around 650.

I'd go with the superb as it's easily upgradeable .... The he351cw is a little harder especially for twins if you want to change secondary down road

The super B is the best bet in the long run many many options with it when the time comes, BD stacks 2 super B's together for their towing twins.

Match that with a standard edge comp and say 100 hp max injectors with the single turbo and you are off and running.
