It seem like the ol' 1996 is finally giving me some grief. No longer have 1st gear unless I manual shift to 1 or 2 gear then it engages 1st gear. But I'm getting 2 error codes.

With the amount of miles I've got on the truck at 156k and it the original transmission I'm opting to let Lindy's friend in McCall, ID do the service work to the transmission. If he sees anything else while the pan is off then he can go through and fix it. I know the Governor Pressure Sensor is the problem and most likely failed. But what other wearable parts and solenoids could there be? I'm not automatic trans man at all.

The truck was delivered to Alpine Automotive tonight. As soon as I get some information from Steve or Tracy I'll let you all know. But I know I could of just bought a Governor Pressure sensor. Like I said I wanted to have it looked at for all wearable items and put back in tip top shape. What good would it be to replace the Governor pressure sensor and then have a band or torque converter give up? So its being inspected.

As for the two error code was the only thing wrong. Steve at Alpine Automotive inspected everything he could and didn't see any problems with the rest of the transmission so Governor Pressure sensor was all replaced and band adjusted and fluid change with filter. I'm planing on adding a transmission temp gauge to this truck for the safety sake. I does get use for hauling trailers now and then.

Glad it turned out to be something relatively simple. That always makes a body feel better!

I guess all my tight maintenance has kept that little 46RE transmission going. MoparMom and I figure we'll drive these trucks till the wheels fall off. Truly they both have been rather low maintenance and failures are very very rare.

Guess I haven't heard of to many vehicles failing because of to much maintenance.
