As far as I know they are all the same. The only difference is the key itself that needs to match the pump.

Ok because the truck is a 01 that have been swap with a 98.5 and the truck is in limp mode because off the diffenrence cam 01 and cam and crank sensor 98.5 . So i want to buy a 01 block with no turbo manifold and vp44 so i want to put all my stoff that run the 98.5 on the 01 that deserve to be in the truck

Only a cam gear from a 01 and the cover and my truck will run fine? Because i heard people talking that this those not work amd that the hole cam *** to be swap

As far as I know all of the 24V cams are the same. The only difference is the gear, which has the tone ring for a sensor in 2001.

Did you read my article?

You will need to get the gears pressed on & off, so you might as well swap cams, or it is a good time to upgrade a cam if  you like.

Oh ok its less trouble to get a 01 block and putt my vp44 on it

I agree with Ed. You will need to pull the front end all apart for either a cam or a block swap, but I would swap the cam.

But if i change the cam i need timming cover and the 01 cam but is this a big jobs or its easy to change the cam because i dont want the truck to have probleme after changing this

Yes, you would have to change the gear housing. I would think you can get a performance cam, replace all of the parts & still have it quicker & cheaper than swapping the engine.

Do you still have the donor truck?

No i did not get the donor truck. Ok i gonna check for a cam and gear housing . But you think its cheaper to change the cam to replace the engine and sell mine that its in the truck

Well, it could be a wash that way. I am just the kind that would take the 98.5 engine & rebuild it & then swap everything over, while using the 01 engine as a temp, but that's just me. My wife tells me I am a hoarder.

You may find a housing & cam from a blown engine at a salvage yard on www.car-part.com It is also a good site for cross referencing what parts fit, as they use the Hollander Interchange system to only give direct crossed parts. You may also check diesel shops for a used housing that is left over from a P pump swap.

Okey because i check and a after market cam is like 700$ and a 01 block i have found one to 1250$

Not a bad price. Is it confirmed an 01-02? Private seller or salvage yard? Any warranty? Any documentation of miles?

I would check it out & throw some bearings rings, a hone job & a gasket kit in for good measure if everythng measures out.
