  1. Forgot to update this.. sorry guys. Called Edge and they confirmed it's too old to repair (it actually didn't even have a serial number sticker.. must have fallen/rubbed off). They offered to let me send it in and upgrade to an Edge Comp for $233!
  2. Thanks guys - I'll give Edge a call and see what they say. I'm also going to try contacting the guy who sold it to me and see if he'll take it back and give me my money back... but I highly doubt it. That's one thing about buying used on Classifieds sites.. "buyer beware". Tried to save myself some money buying used.. if I have to send it back to Edge for $200 plus shipping and US to Canadian exchange rate.. I'm going to end up at the point where I could have just bought a new one. Then... if I'm in for $400.. I might as well just save the extra $175 and get the Comp. Oh well.. live and learn.
  3. Hey guys, Well I went ahead and bought that used Edge EZ off Kijiji for $150. Put it on Friday night.. and I THINK it was working.. although there definitely wasn't a night and day difference. Ran fine yesterday the couple times I took the truck out.. then tonight, when I was driving my son to soccer, I was braking for a red light and the truck surged for a second on it's own. When the light turned green I went to accelerate and there was no throttle response at all.. it was just idling. I put it in neutral and it started to slowly idle up again on it's own - but still a dead pedal.. at about 2000rpm I put it back in drive.. and pulled off to the side of the road. Put it in park and it stumbled and stalled out.. Tried to start it again and it just cranked.. no response. I have a fuel pressure gauge and it was sitting steady at 19psi this whole time. Thought to myself.. "well the only thing that has changed is the Edge EZ".. so popped the hood and unplugged the EZ. Started right back up and everything is fine again. Any ideas? I think i'm going to give Edge a call tomorrow and see if maybe I can send it in to them to get refurbished. That's one frustrating thing about buying used.. you never know for sure what you're getting. Buddy told me "it was working fine when we took it off the truck, we just upgraded to an Edge JWA".. it was on a truck at his work. Frustrating.
  4. Anything to be afraid of with purchasing the Edge EZ used? I'm assuming since it's plug & play it either works or it doesn't.. I would imagine that a 65hp/180tq gain is easy to feel when driving? I'm thinking I'll install the thing and get buddy to go for a drive with me before I buy..?
  5. Hey guys, Two things... I currently have a Raptor 100 on the truck with the full half inch hoses all the way from the tank to the VP. If it dies (not saying "when" because I'm trying to be positive), I eventually want to replace it with a FASS 95.. so I'm curious if I can just buy the pump and not the whole "kit". Does the FASS use the same quick connect fittings? In other words, will it just be a matter of unplugging/unbolting the Raptor and bolting/plugging in the FASS and running the new power lines? Also.. I found a guy not too far away that's selling an older Edge EZ for $200obo - specifically for the 2001 model year (says right on the sticker). I do not have any tranny work done yet - but I've read that the stock 47RE "should" be able to handle an EZ so long as I don't beat on it. I understand that "should" is the key word here.. I'll throw in here that I'm a 33 year old with wife and son.. so I'm long past the "racing around like a maniac" stage we all go through as teens. haha. I'm just looking to "wake the Cummins up" - as so many have described - and have that bit extra when I'm towing the 25' fifth wheel around 2-3 times in the summers.. although it's mainly a daily driver for me, so I'm also hoping to get a bit better fuel economy (not expecting anything drastic). Does this sound reasonable? In the research I've done, people have also mentioned that an Edge Comp "not tapped" is the same as an EZ.. should I just go that route right away? I have no intentions of getting too carried away with HP/Torque numbers.. realistically I'm thinking if I can get a Revmax tranny down the road, and get the 2nd gen making around the same HP/Torque #'s as a new stock 2500, that would be completely fine with me. Thanks in advance!
  6. Does anyone have any pics of this dash cover installed? Is it really obvious? I'm a bit OCD with the looks of my truck...
  7. Thanks all. Got'r'dun..
  8. Hey guys, Just going to do the crankcase vent mod and I'm wondering whether or not you guys have glued your joints, or just pushed them together? I'm assuming "slip fitting" means you just slip them together and friction does the rest.. but figured I'd better double check. Thanks!
  9. Yeah 1/2" lines all the way from the tank to the VP44 now.. it was pretty funny in hindsight!
  10. Thanks guys! It ended up being the isolator after all. It didn't come with any instructions, so I just bled the air on both sides and put it together. When I started reading up on it I found some instructions about pushing the diaphragm inside back with the eraser end of a pencil after bleeding the air on the fuel side. I hadn't done that.. so the diaphragm had moved up and was pushed completely against the 'out' port on the fuel pressure gauge side. I tried to remove the isolator out of the picture completely, but I don't have the correct fittings. So I took it all apart and re-did it the correct way, and bang.. 30+ PSI! Turned it back down to 19.. checked for leaks.. and then called it an evening. Emailed Pureflow to let them know not to send the replacement pump if they hadn't already..
  11. I do have a needle valve installed - so I'm good there. Is there any danger in running the standard translucent white tubing for awhile until I can find the black stuff?
  12. Interesting... I am running the isolator actually. I'll take it out of the picture tonight and see if it makes a difference. I've read that you shouldn't run diesel directly into the cab, but I've also read that quite a few do it, and have never had any issues..
  13. Good to know. I appreciate your input on the last couple threads I've posted - thanks! I had done a bunch of research 2 years ago before going with the Raptor.. I knew it wasn't the BEST solution, but reviews seemed to be pretty decent, so I figured it would get me by until I could save up for something better. I'm hoping that's still the case. By the sounds of things, I just got a lemon. I've seen quite a number of people here - and on cumminsforum - that have had good results with them.
  14. Pureflow is sending me a replacement Raptor 100 and a prepaid return shipping label. Hopefully the new one will tide me over until I can save up for a FASS Titanium.
  15. Yes, brand new out of the box. The truck does start right up, so I don't think it's an air leak. I actually did email Pureflow last evening around the same time I made this thread, and they emailed me back this morning already. Good to know, thanks. I'll keep that in mind when talking to them.
  16. I don't unfortunately. I'm using an ISSPRO EV mechanical gauge - no change with it.. made sure the air was bled out after re-doing the fittings. I suppose it's a possibility though..
  17. Installed the Raptor yesterday and it was running fine at 18 psi until this evening when I took the truck to the car wash.. after pulling out I noticed the fuel pressure gauge was reading 16 psi.. 5 minutes later.. 15psi.. by the time I got home it was down to 8psi. Got underneath the hood and noticed one of the fittings was leaking a bit.. figured that's where the pressure loss was coming from, but I took it all apart and re-did the teflon tape.. put it all back together again.. dry as a bone now, but only reading 7psi. Turned the screw on the pump up.. but no change in pressure. Any ideas? I can't imagine a pump that sits on the frame of the truck wouldn't be able to handle a car wash?!
  18. Success!! Thanks guys. Was able to drill them down and pop the heads off with a flathead and a 2lb. mallet. (Not without some drama though.. drilled them out and then tried to remove the bolts with a reverse bit, and snapped the tip of the bit off inside!! Can't drill that!). Put the spacer in and bolted it back up.. Ran the lines.. What a BEEYOTCH getting the stock suction hose off the top of the tank!!! Finally had a buddy help me and we got 'er. Got everything hooked up and went to prime the system.. Bumped the key 4-5 times and still nothing. Strange..? Finally decided to put my finger over the end of the hose and it was sucking air... Waitaminute... I reversed the in/out lines! Switched them back and primed and this time diesel came spitting out after 3 seconds or so.. I wasn't expecting so much flow and didn't have a catch pan ready.. Sprayed diesel all over the place (including a nice splash in my face!) before I finally decided just to let it shoot down onto the ground. Bolted everything back up.. Bled the line to the fuel pressure gauge and had my wife crank it while I bled the air out of injector lines 1 & 3. Started right up and was purring like a kitten. Fuel pressure was only 8 psi at first so I turned it up with the screw.. Sitting at 16-17psi at idle now, and drops to 15 when I floor it. Needless to say, I'm happy i finally got it all done! Even happier that I managed to do it myself... the mishaps just enhanced the learning experience! Now what can I fix....?
  19. There's a reason I come on these forums! ha. Was so frustrated, I didn't even think of that. I'll give it a go tomorrow. Thanks man.
  20. Here's a couple pics to give you the visual:
  21. Hey guys, Long story short.. bought a Raptor 100 last year.. mounted it to the frame, but then never finished the install. Stock lift pump died recently, so I need to finish the install. Went to connect the fuel lines today and realized I need to mount the pump in a different location.. unbolted the brackets fine, but I also need to reposition the pump on the backplate (put the spacer in). When I attempted to unbolt the pump from the backplate, I realized the bolts are seized. Instead of being patient and giving it a good soaking of PB Blaster, I tried to force the issue and stripped the bolts. I have a feeling I'm SOL at this point.. I've tried mounting the brackets as is in a few different locations, but they're all no go without the spacer. I'm hoping someone might have some ideas? Unfortunately I'm not a mechanic, so I don't have the ability or know-how to drill and tap, or anything like that...
  22. Ah.. now it makes sense. haha. No worries!
  23. @hex0rz - read my post one more time... ;)
