  9. Can anyone tell me what the length on my driveline should be from the front yoke to the back ujoint ? It's a y2k ctd auto 4x4 long bed.
  10. Ok I will check the stick and see what it looks like thanks for the help
  11. Its rotational play, the in out and side to side is almost zero and no leaks. The pinion seal was replaced and sleeved about 2.5 yrs ago or 15k.
  12. I have play in the dana 70 when you move the yoke back and forth. It measures about an 1/8 inch worth of movement total is that to much. What is the max for the play.It regularly has metal on the dip stick in the cover. 243k on the clock.
  13. The vp is 5 years old so I have had it for awhile.
  14. All of the tube seals were replaced by the shop ,along with the fuel line between the filter and vp.they also ran a clear line in the same spot to check for air and none showed up. The only two consistent things are if you crimp the intake side it doesn't loose prime. When the shop had it parked up hill it started after overnight sitting, but when I drove it home and it sat uphill it loos Es prime.i think they were not really road testing it etc. seems like to me one of the pumps is leaking back after running a good distance.if the return side was leaking air then it would loose prime when the inlet side of the vp was crimped off right.
  15. The shop that worked on it pressurized it from the vp back and soap sparyed it with no sign of leaks. Their vp rebuilder thinks it's the vp and it has a leak inside in the pump part of the vp.
  16. Thanks 903 I had the water sep valve replaced with oem recently I am thinking about my oem lp that's still li place and trying to plumb it in to rule out the fass which runs #16 at idle. Should the fass be able hold all the fuel above the pump with out a drain back , if there's a open line letting air in?
  17. The shop did the tube seals first and I had the return stuff all done last year and the truck starts if you block the drain back at any point on the intake side,vp to the tank so the drain back has to be on the intake side. they put time in on it and all they work on mostly is cummins pickups, they were stumped.
  18. Thanks notlimah for the help I think we have ruled out the return side do to seal replacement and if you crimp off any spot on the suction side of the vp44 it starts right up, all the way to the tank.?
  19. Ok still have uphill parking prime loss. Had it in the shop they had tank off and checked the line from the lift pump to inj pump and pressurized the line from the inj pump to the tank with no leaks.they put a clear line in between the filter and the inj pump and found no air. If you face it down hill overnight it starts right up but has to be reprised when pointed up hill. Here's the real puzzle ,if they park it nose up at their shop it starts up,if I drive it home and park it nose up it has to be reprimed. They have given up on it to tell me they can't fix it I have to just drive it until whatever is wrong breaks. They think it could be the vp from advice from the vp suppliers and others.i got no results and none of my $550 back. I think they are not parking it after a road run as I am. The truck also has a slight ruff idle intermittent more prevalent when the weather is warm.the vp is five year old without a new brain. What do you guys think.
  20. No haven't called them yet. Is Eric the owner ? I haven't done anything with them for about 4 years
  21. looses prime when parked up hill overnight. replaced return gaskets on return manifold.the line from the filter to inj pump replaced, they checked for bubbles in a clear line between filter and inj pump by the shop who did the work none found.said it started right up when parked up hill at the shop. but its not fixed yet still has to be primed with the lift pump. If you crimp the inlet line at the filter when parking it, it starts right up next day could be the fuel pressure gauge line, but then there would be bubbles in the line, maybe. Taking it back to the shop tommorow that did some of the work. will let you know.
  22. Can anyone give me info on a good 2nd gen shop in Vancouver.
  23. Sean have you got any codes and what truck are you working on
  24. I would start with the relay in the big fuse panel under the hood. Find the one for the fuel system and swap it out with another one see if that's it.
