  1. I can try to get one up tomorrow. It stays consistent it moves up really fast. with light throttle it goes all the way up to 2200 rpm and at 65 mph it usually stays at 2800 rpm or so... Could it be my comp box? The speedo seems to be fine. At idle it reads about 100 rpm
  2. Well I put the new crank sensor in and the tach is still acting up. I am starting to run out of ideas.
  3. Thanks for the tip. I dont have huge hands but anything to make it easier. I am pretty sure I am losing prime somewhere. The issue went away with a full tank. except for the RPM issue of course.
  4. My crank sensor just came in today. I am going to do it on Saturday. I guess I'll try to figure out if I am losing fuel prime as well. I might put new crossover tube o- rings on just to be safe. I have heard about return lines on the back of the block causing loss of prime. I have never looked for them. Are they hard to get to?
  5. my lift pump came with a wiring harness that hooked to the factory one. It was the quick connect one. I cant hear it cycle when i turn the key on and when it doesn't start you can hear it run as well as when the truck is running you can hear the pump run. I don't have a fuel pressure guage. I just didn't want to guess and start throwing parts at it. I know a crank sensor is around $50 which isn't terrible
  6. That makes sense. I guess I'll go ahead and do some o-rings. Any idea on where to get them? I looked on XDP and Geno's, they only have them for the common rails. Also any ideas on the tach issue? or how to find out what is causing it?
  7. If the cross tube o- rings wouldn't it be damp around them?
  8. If i park at home it can sit for days and start just fine. I noticed when i started parking in the shop at work. It would sit for 9-10 hours and be hard to start with a puff of white smoke coming out once it fired. the driveway at my house is barely at an angle. It does face downhill but very slightly. I thought i was having a fuel prime loss issue I just wasn't sure if the tach and hard starts were realted. There is no miss or loss of power that I have noticed. I'm starting to run out of things to replace, in the last six months I have done the IP, APPS , alternator, brake switch, speed sensor, and batteries. It never seems to end .
  9. As of lately my truck has become hard to start. It requires about two ten second cranks to fire but then runs great. I have checked for fuel leaks and tightness of fuel components. I installed a lift pump and new lines 9 months ago. Also the tach doesn't match the speed you are driving. At light acceleration the rpms will jump all the way to 2k and on the highway at 60 mph it usually stays around 2700 rpm. I am not sure if it would be the crank sensor since I have no codes. The hard starting just happened out of the blue a couple weeks ago. Any help would great.
  10. I put in a speed sensor and now everything seems ok. RPM's are normal and no weird shifting
  11. Mine hasn't happened for the last two days which is odd because I haven't done anything. Was yours constant or sporadic
  12. I thought about that since they are easy and pretty cheap as far as I know.
  13. There is a ground going from the PCM on the passenger side behind the air filter. Both batteries ground to the block just follow the cables. Tue drivers side battery has one on the frame as well . it is in the wheel well. Also check the connections going to the fuse block under the hood
  14. I know which one you are talking about. It looks as though that it has two different things done
  15. Probably wouldn't hurt to check all the grounds and battery terminals and the batteries as well. I have been fighting a something close to that for a while now.
  16. My problem started out with the normal od lock and unlock issues. I cleaned all the grounds and tightened them and did the same with the battery terminal connections. That seemed to solve the problem for about a week and a half then it started again. I ended up replacing the APPS and that worked for all of three days. Recently I have replaced the alternator along with the brake light switch. Now when I drive it if I barely accelerate the rpms will shoot way up to 2500 or so. It will shift normal when doing this however it will usually start the od lock and unlock a few minutes later. it will lock and unlock several times before downshifting a gear and sometimes staying in third. sometimes it will downshift without warning going 75 mph down the highway. I have tested the new alternator to make sure it was good and not sending to much AC current and it checked out fine. I am at a bit of a loss on this one. Any help would be great.
