Hey fellas, long time no talk, truck has been doing pretty well besides my original s366 taking a crap and a broken output shaft. When the turbo went out, we went with the s366sxe and i finally found out that im running 6x.018 injectors... Havent done anything with my tune that i showed u the dyno sheet on, but on hard pulls the truck is starting to sound choppy. Almost like its popping off the rev limiter. I dont wanna add much timing because im already pushing my luck as is with stock headbolts and factory gasket. The smoke is there, its not lean by any means. Since the new charger is boosting more, is it affecting the parameters of the v2? Im boosting 60psi...thanks for the help and input in advance

@Me78569 dyno'd the truck today, made some adjustments to the timing, canbus, and pump stretch....this was the end result. Pretty happy with it. Curve looks pretty nice to me. Thoughts?

@Me78569 sorry for the slow reply, work has been busy. I tried both with the timing. Its set at 16, 19, 21, 23, and 25 right now. Im also noticing what appears to be some hazing at idle, and at low rpms (less than 1500) while cruising at any speed. Timing?

@Me78569 been a while, my torque convertor issues was just a low fluid level...added like 4 quarts and no issues. Went to the drag strip today, had a great time and the truck performed flawlessly. Lvl 5 seemed to supply too much fuel, so i went to lvl 4. Hardly any smoke thru the entire run. Left on 20psi. Ran a 12.8 at 106. Made 13 passes today all consistent between 12.8 and 13.2 with minor adjustments to the tune...i think ive got her pretty close. Any tips as to what i could do to better utilize lvl5?

Well, i just rebuilt the trans, all Goerends internals and VB...I thought about replacing the Buckeye TC, but decided to let it go. Guess i should have just replaced it lol

Ok good deal. Well, i made the changes with the tune. Started at 68%@0psi and moved up to 112%@30+psi. Also made the chsnges you recommended for the wiretap in lvl5. Truck pulled consistently, and egts struggled to get to 1600...noticed the popping at 3000rpms. So im gonna pull .5deg and see how it does. On a bad note, may not be doing many pulls for a while. While driving down the highway i noticed my rpms were way too high for the speed i was going and came to the conclusion that my TC is not locking up. Even came to a stop with the switch flipped to see if it would try to kill the truck...no dice. So, once the weather warms back up, i will do some troubleshooting. As for the tune, it feels pretty damn good. Thanks for all the help guys!

@Dieselfuture i do know i have seen 4095 for CANBUS fueling on my datalogs. Half the reason is first time i saw it, i freaked out assuming it was max rpms lol. But yes 4095 has been on there each time. Might explain the plateau im hitting. @Me78569 im alright with the lag, its not too bad. I do agree that its the nature of the beast. On lvl 3, the truck dailys just fine. Which is where i intend to drive it. Maybe thats where im making this more difficult, im trying to tune it to where i can just pop it up to lvl5 on race night and be ready to go. If you say that canbus usually only takes 112% to be maxed out, would that be a good reason as to why WOT doesnt feel as powerful as it should? I see it like this, WOT is asking for more, but CANBUS says no sir.

Oh. Lol s366sxe (what i was told). 66/73. My mechanic was being kinda vague with me about the injectors and stuff because he didnt want me to tell all the guys that i roll with untill it was tuned... The changes were ok i suppose...less smoke in level 3, i started at 75@0psi and worked my way up to 126@30+psi...i also dropped tge wiretap to 10psi and changed the timing to 16, 19, 21, 23, and 25deg.... also changed my pump stretch to 1500 Feels a big laggy on the bottom end, also, egts were still 1600...i did notice that at WOT on a hard pull in 3rd and OD it feels like it actually pulls better if i back off the throttle to around 80%...also obviously drops my egts to around 1450ish... Im trying to be as observant as possible, but this is waht ive noticed so far... Also, i forgot to mention, with the new timing setting i was getting the "popping" at high rpms. I also change the max rpm to 3500, and changed my boost defuel setting to 50psi because it was at 47psi. The datalogger was reading 47psi everytime i looked so im trying to take that out of the equation as well

@Me78569 didnt have much time to tune today, i changed timing though...i also think im going to pull some fuel, its smoking more than i initially thought...not super bad, but id like to lean it out just a little bit. And i may change the wiretap from 12psi to 10. Thoughts?

Yea I will keep my nose to the grindstone. I love learning new platforms and learning how everything meshes tofether to create the most efficient power possible. When u say to adjust the time 1* at 2k+, is this what youre meaning? Timing vs rpm 1500: 15 2000: 17 to 18 2500: 19 to 20 3000: 21 to 22 Max timing:23 to 24

Oh ok good deal! I was a bit dicouraged because i was wondering where u were getting 3200 rpms from...i was lost haha. But yea, i will turn the wire tap down and try her tomo. I had thought about changing it but decided not to. Ill report back tomo! Thanks for the tips and guidance! And patience!

So, a swing and a miss on this tune? And i thought i made progress I guess where im getting the most confused is when i start messing with the wiretap and stuff...and basically everything with the timing. I think its because im so green when it comes to what advancing or retarding the timing actually does. For some reason im just having problems wrapping my head around it.

Ok, so i just spent about an hour and a half out on back roads and this is what ive come up with. I started at 75% on the valet mode. On the lower end below id say 15psi its a tad smokey, but as i get higher in boost and really get after it, the smoke lightens up. Its not a haze, but its not black either, right in the middle. The truck pulls like a dragster, BUT im still experiencing very high EGTs...quadzilla picked up 1600+ degrees. Id love to see it not climb over 1400...what changes do u guys see here that would drop those EGTs? Also i took ur advice and dropped the timing a couple degrees and it took away the popping in high rpms... Ok. Yea my lope is pretty intense...like i said, idles smooth in park and neutral, as soon as i go to reverse or any forward gears, and hold the brake, its loping hard, so hard that it starts to stumble and will eventually stall...ill see if i can get a video of it tonight

@Me78569 ok, thanks for kinda dumbing it down for me a bit more. Lol. I feel like an idiot for being so lost with tuning, but ive never tuned before with anything other than a 4 barrel carb and flathead screwdriver lol. Ill see what i can get started and report back in a day or two.

Ok, @Dieselfuture i put that tune in, its a little bit better. The truck idles very smooth in park and neutral, but AS SOON as i put it in gear, i fight a VERY heavy lope. Im sure its dumping too much fuel and choking itself out. It has stalled a few times waiting at lights. Also, driving around town in 3rd gear at about 1800-2000rpms, im about 900degrees. Seems a bit high to me, but since this is my first diesel and build, im a bit uneducated. I may have forgot to mention that i have the hardfuel tune rather than the standardfuel. As for the valet tune @Me78569, are u saying to use the default tune and start there? I appreciate the help gents!

Hey guys, brand new member here. Im at a complete loss, with the fear of sounding dumb, im totally clueless with this V2 tuning. Ive read everything on here and on the v2 tuning page. But for some reason im having trouble understanding it all. Ive never tuned before. So in order to get a little help here, i used the tune that ive quoted in my truck the other night. EXCESSIVE smoke. Very high EGTs, and some popping. So im asking for a little bit of guidance feom you guys. Spencer at quadzilla told me to look u guys up. Im willing to learn, dont really want to come in here and have everything handed to me on a silver platter. Just trying to get this truck dialed in, without melting it down in the meantime. I have edited my profile so u guys can see what i ha e dont to my rig. Im also trying to upload my url to my profile so u can watch a cpl videos on my youtube channel to better understand my issues. So, with all that being said, can yall give me a hand with getting a good tune set up?
