  1. To be honest, The amount of use that the normal workin man put's on these tools Harbor is the way to go. If I were in the AC industry and used the tools on a daily basis No I would buy something better quality. But for your use and maybe the occasional friend needing work on their Auto AC it's money in the bank. ever if you charge some one $50 to recharge their system I will pay for itself and buy 10 more LOL. Don't bee fooled buy all the bad rap everyone says about the Chinese Garbage the harbor sells. I have found that is you use the tool as it was intended and don't abuse them, the Harbor tools work just as good and the name brand at 25% of the price. My wife cringes any time I tell her I went to the local Harbor store and has since Banned me from even entering that zipcode ROFLMAO!!! Give it a shot and save you some bucks!!
  2. yup HY35 definetly, ISX got to it first lol. let me know if you ever need one cause i got one sittin in the garage from when I swapped mine to an HX35. If you want a true EGT Reading you need to move your probe to the Exhaust manifold. What power adders do you have?
  3. My 2 cent's worth is DON"T USE THE STUFF!!!! if it wasn't ment to be in there don't put it in there. I had a 96 S10 the the pump acted just like your saying and it was the casing on the pump that was leaking the freon. I know it sounds expensive but your gonna need a pump no 2 ways about it. now you can do all the work yourself which will save you a ton on service charges. and you can do the whole thing if you can find a vacuum pump. In come Harbor freight. They have Cheap guage set for the new freon set up and even have a vacuum pump for like $65 buck to vacuum your system down if need be. JG
  4. I started this many years ago when Fass was selling their system for like $600. I bought a Holley Blue fuel pump off Ebay for like $45 dollars. I mounted the holley blue under the truck close to the fuel tank on the frame rail. Cut the main supply line ( the big one ). Use (2) 3/8ths fuel hoses and (2) 3/8ths hose barbs and (2) small hose clamp to splice the pump in. Use the + power wire on the lift pump to feed power to the holley blue and use the screw on the pump bracket as you ground. $60 total and your garunteed 20 - 30 PSI to your injector pump even with a dead lift pump. My set up has been on for 7 years and I still have 22 psi at idle and 15 PSI at Wide open throttle and have yet to replace a VP with 186,000 on the odometer. I've been pushing 400 + hp for all 7 years. JG
  5. From your last pic I can tell you this, It's not an HX35 and It looks to be an HY35 if it is the stock turbo. Reason being is the HY35 uses a steel tube that connects the boost side of the turbo to the wastegate actuator. The HX35 there is a rubber tube that comes from a brass 90 that screws into the boost side of the turbo and connects to the wastegate actuator. I really need to see the whole turbo over all to be sure. If you can take an over all pic instead ov closeups it would be great. Just because your EGT's never get over 800 means nothing. There are many reasons why you EGT's are lower. 1. Is your EGT probe on the exhaust elbow (Post Turbo ) of the turbo or in the exhaust manifold ( Pre Turbo) 2. What power adder's do you have ( in stock form the egt's will be lower than if you add power adders. 3. what type of EGT guage do you have? ( some guages can be as much as 25% less accurate or even more. 4. where do you live? changes in altitude play's a major factor in EGT's The higher the altitude you go the higher the EGT's you'll see. Generally speaking. See many factors have a lot to do with how your EGT's are read. The most acurate place for the EGT probe is Pre Turbo ( ie in the exhaust Manifold ) drilled in the e=xhaust runner coming from the #6 cylinder. This is because on our trucks #6 cylinder gets the least amount of Boost from the turbo due to restritions and the air charge tends to be hotter by the time it gets to that cylinder. Hope this helps JG
  6. If it does end up being the ECM ...... Uuummmm ???? anybody have a good source for one? or is there someplace I can send it to be further checked out and maybe reprogrammed.
  7. First off let’s start off with saying I’m glad I found your site!!! Great Job and keep up the great work!!! I have been in the Cummins thing for many years, I use to be the admin on the old SETDR site if some of you remember. That site is what kicked off the Diesel Garage and Comp Diesel sites. When SETDR died I kinda laid back and focused on other things in life. I have an 01 Dodge Cummins ( Big Red )with DD4’s, 5” exhaust, hx35 w/boost elbow, Edge Drag Comp, all the gauges, Holley blue pusher pump ( which I started the installation craze) and a full blown Sun Coast Comp Tranny w/triple lock Tq Convertor, So she’s pretty stout and build to my likeing. Last dynode @ 437hp 1050 tq. Nuff about me and on to the issue: I don’t drive her much since my job gives me a work truck to drive and foots the fuel bills. I went to NY for a family wedding and while I was gone we had a lightning strike here at the house. I mean it blew the phone lines off the walls and blew the main breakers on the power panel. Yea that close. After that time I when to get in Big Red to load her up to make a dump run and she was in I guess a Detuned mode. The truck starts fine and idles fine, but when you hit the go pedal it immediately jumps to 1300 RPMs and stays there until you let off. Then it’s back to idle. Checked the code and got P0236, P0237, and P1689. TS and got a new Map Sensor and still P0236, P1689. Unhooked all Edge comp connectors and went back to factory which cleared P0236 but still have P1689 and same idle/1300 RPM issue. Cleared the code many times with code reader and shorting + and – battery tremanals for 30 sec’s, the whole 9 yards. Yes Edge Comp is Dead, and will take it to Edge next week when I visit Daughter in Utah next week. So where to go next? Gonna do the P1689 Troubleshoot steps here to try and see if ECM is bad or what. The question? Is it possible that the EMP Pulse from the lightning could have fed through the Edge comp and blew the Map, ECM, and or VP? Anything is possible I guess. I’d like a sanity check here first before I start blowing megabuck on throwing parts at this thing. Pleas chime in and let me know your thoughts!~!!! Michael It was me that tried to call you this morning on the phone to see what you think. Call me back at the number I left for you in you can. Thanks in advanced JG
