  1. Thanks I never thought about doing that.
  2. I did a bit more digging today and no matter what I do If the 50amp battery fuse is in the test light is at full bright.when I pull that fuse it dims a bit.I pulled the inline engine connection and the test light went out. I reconnected and the light came on so I pulled the connection on the ecm and the light stayed on so I'm thinking the problem is in the harness between the inline engine connection and the pcm or the harness down to the ecm. Thanks for the replies I can do any job on a vehicle from engine rebuilding to body work but electrical diagnostics is my weak spot and of coarse that what the problem is.I might be mistaken but looking at the wire diagrams looks like the battery fuse goes to the integrated electronic module. Anyone know where I might find it?
  3. Well I have finally have the PDC and harness installed in the truck .If you remember the old PDC burnt up at Joint connection 2.I was checking for dead shorts with the pos connected to the battery and using my test light on the neg post of the battery and on the disconnected neg cable.the test light lit so i know there is a short and started to pull fuses. When I pulled the 50amp battery fuse the light dimmed and the next fuse was no change.Pulled the 20amp engine control 2 fuse the light dimmed more. Pulled all the rest of the fuses and the light stayed on but was dim.I am at a loss as to whats going on and am looking for advice. Thanks Dale
  4. Wonder how they get enough units if they don't want a core returned.
  5. I'm not in need of one their add keeps showing up on my Facebook and I was just curious. From what I read these are brand new units not repaired ones they build then flash to the vin of the truck.I would hope they are anyway for $900.
  6. Just wondering if anybody has had any dealings with Flagship one for ecm or pcm replacement. Is their lifetime warranty any good. Dale
  7. Thanks Haggar for the diagrams I think they will help. I remember it was an easy plug to undo. Looks like it either goes way down or out by the hinge
  8. I’m in the process of putting the new harness in my truck. This wire in the pic was not connected to the truck in the old harness. It is in the harness close to the pdc and is coming out of the harness with these two plugs. I’m just wondering if the wire is connected on your trucks or if anyone knows what it is for. Also in the 3 pic is a small wire that comes out of the harness between the abs pump and the fire wall I thought it went through by the fender but now I can find where it connects. I remember it was easy to unplug. When someone has the time I would appreciate it if you could trace it. Thanks Dale
  9. I have both fuel modules one with pump in it and one with no pump. The wire plugs are identical and both have four wires at the plug.
  10. Yes it was g100 the g101 was in good shape. Sad thing is I was planning on doing all the grounds this winter when truck was parked. Guess as I install the new wire harness will make it easier to find them all.
  11. I will get a picture of the spot today after work. It is on the flat part of the fender under the head light and to the front of truck.
  12. This is the ground under the left battery from the pdc. Has most of the grounds from the pdc all grounded there.
  13. This is one of the main grounds for the pdc was nothing but black tap holding the wires to the ring connector. One of the heavy equipment mechanics at work said this would cause extra draw through the pdc. As I remove the old wire harness I will see what other surprises await.
  14. So do I. I'm going to start buying all the PDC I run across because they are getting scarce up here not to many scrape yards hold trucks or cars for parts anymore they crush them as they come in.
  15. No the fass was installed powered off the battery controlled by the ecm.
  16. The fass was installed by myself. The old lift pump on the side of engine has been removed and the fass harness plugs into the old fuel pump plug as per instructions. The harness then goes to a relay then from relay + &- go to battery and the other wire goes to the fass pump behind the cab. I was not thinking so yes it’s ran off the battery and controled by the ecm.
  17. Yes it is operated off the ecm and plugged into the plug for the original fuel pump. Is that plug powered by the batteries?I do hate auto correct.
  18. yes its the full fast titanium. and it plugs into the regular harness at the old location on the block. Then it goes directly to a relay that came in the fast wiring harness
  19. I installed a Fass a couple weeks ago and it is running from the oem fuel pump plug to the relay that came with the Fass harness. I think when I get the truck back together I’m going to run the Fass off a switch and leave it out of the pdc altogether This is the replacement pdc it looks like it has gotten hot at some point also in the same spot. The truck this came off was also running a Fass system could it be the Fass is pulling to much power
  20. I tested it with my ohmmeter and it was ok
  21. I checked all the fuses and they are the right sizes.I traced the worst burnt wire from joint connection 2 and it goes to 20amp engine control 2.It goes in but no wire is coming out the other side of fuse block but the replacement pdc is set up the same so it must be normal. Also I'm confused why it would not have blown the fuse instead of burning the pdc.
  22. I have only owned this truck for a couple months and am not totally sure of its history. The only other thing I noticed was the wipers came on by themselves that morning. Thought it was just a dirty switch at the time because I read somewhere that was common. Also now that I’m going through the fuses the a/c fuse is blown and also one blade is broken off and seized into the pdc I will follow the burnt wire inside the pdc later and see where the go.
  23. I was thinking about it being the grid heater. This is a summer truck so I’m not going to hook the heater back up. No need to have that huge power drawe on a 20 year old truck when not needed. As I start to remove the old wire harness the ground under the left battery was in bad shape only thing holding all the wires to the connector was black tape. Would a bad ground cause the damage?
  24. Thanks will try to sort it out
