  1. I think a shift kit or higher line pressure valve body is a great idea. The stock clutches are actually pretty decent and a lot of performance builders use them. The higher line pressure will give you better clamping force on the clutches.
  2. I've been working a long time on this one and finally got my pxrb pacbrake installed and my custom tuning sorted out enough for the ecm to reliably run my exhaust brake on my 2005 5.9 Cummins auto with a 48RE. It works the same way as the 2006-2007 model years do with a 48RE transmission. Hit the switch and the truck will activate the exhaust brake at idle for warmup to 182 degrees. On decelerating the brake activates down to about 50ish in 4th and then downshifts to 3rd, relocks and pacbrake comes back on. If you need more you can manually downshift to 2nd and it will give you the exhaust brake down to about 15mph. Overall pretty great mod so far, very happy with it. I have a couple articles over at smarty support and a YouTube video on it as well. My theory on why the 05 auto didn't come with a factory brake option: https://smartysupport.com/forums/topic/332-why-the-2005-59-cummins-auto-didnt-come-with-an-exhaust-brake/ My brake and air system install (I know the wires aren't pretty but it works and we aren't building space shuttles here): https://smartysupport.com/forums/topic/329-2005-ram-59-cummins-48re-automatic-transmission-pxrb-pacbrake-and-on-board-air-installation/ My YouTube video on the brake: https://youtu.be/LZKLHggdKbM
  3. I've rebuilt quite a few 48RE's and one 68RFE and I just drilled a hole in the pan and welded in an automotive drain plug and matching bolt from Ace hardware.
  4. I spent a good hour during my rebuild trying to find out why mine had only 5 as well... I think the ATSG manual shows how it should have been built, not how it was built.
  5. What did you do to check the injectors or confirm they are all good? Any idea which cylinder is missing?
