  1. Well we’ll see. Some time between this week and next week something will be rigged up. Don’t know what yet but it will be something lol
  2. Stanley, going through the headache of taking them both off seems like more work than just fixing the one? if I roll my truck it’s your fault! Haha Alright I was all worried about it, well thank you guys for the help. It’s not like I’m going to be going around a turn at 100 mph but I also don’t want to have to worry about something happening if I need to swerve out of the way for a free branch or something
  3. So obviously not having a sway bar isn’t thaaat unsafe, since like you said you’ve had yours off for a year. Being a highschool student I’m just looking for a temporary fix for this, since my plans are to get a nicer sway bar later on. Would it be okay to just fix this one and worry about the others when the time comes? Okay, so don’t worry guys I won’t weld it. My plans are to get this broken piece out my anymeans possible, using a combination of all of the methods suggested and try not to damage the threads, then just get a new bolt and fix her up. If this doesn’t work, is it okay to just drive around with one side supported and one not? I’m really not worried about the sway bar falling off, the other bushing is holding up well. As @Stanley said, he’s been driving around without one for a year so unlike some have suggested, can just having one bushing off be that big of a deal? Surely even though the sway bar is not working to its full ability in this state, is a little support better than none?
  4. Then what? Just completely remove and keep off or replace all 4?
  5. How will candle wax get sucked into the threads? Just naturally? Yeah I’ve read them and started today, my ez out just was too small because I tried to drill it out first. But if I would just weld the whole bracket back on, although not long term that would have to atleast work for a little bit, wouldn’t it? If not why?
  6. Thank you. So then you’d say a broken bushing is no big deal? Thank you bullet, yeah I believe my truck is stock height. I drove it today, no problems. Didnt flip the truck, so that’s a plus. I’m still going to fix it when I get around to it just to be sure and so it’s less of a worry. Since the bolt is broken, can I just weld it back on? Well I went ahead and bent the bracket back, need to go pick up a bigger bit. I know it’s not the most proactive thing but I guess if the whole bracket breaks Itll just be a sign the whole thing needs replaced. Just a temporary bandaid, my plans are to eventually replace the whole front end. So is it safe to fix this one, then just worry about the other three when they break, if they do? Thank you for understanding. Yes unfortunately I am very mechanically declines, so I don’t even know what and easy out or a cheater bar is. Edit: never mind, I do know what an easy out is, just never called it but that, and I attempted to use one, but I had already drilled a hole in the bolt too large and now need a slightly larger easy out. Well I do have the time, and the patience. My whole plans with this truck are to do only what needs to be done in highschool, and when I’m done and have some money saved up begin to make it look nice. The truck is actually pretty good, astray from this one thing.
  7. Well I could bend the bracket back to gain access See, this is the hard part. I do not know how the sway bar works so I’m not sure what thread I’m trying not to damage. The thread that the bolt that holds the bushing on goes into? So I was planning on going on a little drive today maybe half and hour to and back wich involves about half high way and the rest town. Is it safe to drive on? If not I don’t want to take the risk
  8. So you just drive around with no swag bar in general?
  9. Alright everyone. It broke off. What are my options/ the next step? Is it possible for me to get it out my self?
  10. What he said ^ Well crossing my fingers for it to have just fallen out. I guess I will let you guys know in the morning.
  11. What do you mean by farm it all out. I feel so dumb, I don’t know what any of these terms are . Does it mean just to replace everything? Well how hard is this to fix? Is it just as simple as screwing it back on or is it more complicated than that?
  12. I’ll have to look at it in the morning, but I think it fell out
  13. Is it more complex than just screwing the bracket back on?
  14. So is this something serious that’s needs to be immediately fixed? And I don’t have a lot of extra cash. It’s just something that I plan on slowly building up overtime.
  15. Thank you. So would you say that this setup is pretty “bullet prooof” then? So is there anyway that you can have bigger wheels and tires on it safely and comfortably? I was thinking of going pretty big after I have all of the mechanics straightened out So if I don’t mind a little bit of play is that bad for the truck? If I want bigger wheels and tires though, is there stronger parts I can go with? My whole plans with this truck were to slowly build it up into something that includes some pretty big wheels and tires Alright, so do you guys see that in the first pic? How Did this even happen and what should I do?
  16. Okay, wow lots of issues. Let me ask this, if I was to take it to an average shop and tell them to go through and do everything, what kind of price am I looking at? How much did the entire front end cost? What will this unwanted movement look like? So what will these bad ball joints look like? So what is everything you replaced?
  17. I always here people talking about how the front ends of dodges are always bad. What goes bad in them, when will you know gene they neeed to be replaced, and how can you check everything to make sure it is good? Also, I need a new power steering pump, any suggestions?
  18. Haha hopefully. How do you figure that out? Do you know if block 53 problems usually occur early in the life of the truck or later on. How do you know when you have a problem?
  19. And also, does anyone know of any place I can take the truck where they just tell me what needs to be done? That sounds so easy but heck if there would be an honest place like that it’d be awesome so I figured I’d ask. alright @Me78569 @OmahaGen2 okay, I will try these things next chance I get. The front tires are wearing uneven, what needs to be done to correct this? What smell should I be looking for with the transmission? In neutral drive and reverse while the breaks are on there are no clinking noises. This morning when I tried to start it up the power steering was not working, let the truck warm up for about 30 seconds and all was good, I don’t know what this means. I usually let the truck warm up but it didn’t get too far below freezing last night and need to get into the habit of starting it up a few minutes before I drive it. The transmission stays at a good temperature temperature -120 to 140. It as “ext temp” gauge and “boost gauge” what are boost and ext? Alright, I can check out the ground wires. Thank you! And by the way, am I replying to comments right? Am I supposed to keep typing in this same box? In order to make this a reliable truck, what do you guys think I’m looking at price wise? I know it’s going to be a super rough and general estimate but any input would be great. @JAG1thank you. Okay. One ounce per gallon. My goodness that’s gonna be expensive. Do you think even if I add a little less than would still help? Is it like better some than none or does it have to be that exact amount?
  20. Thank you @Mopar1973Man I checked the trans fluid yesterday and all that looks good. I just messaged dynamic, thank you. @Me78569 Alright, so what do I need to do in the valve body? I am completely uneducated in mechanics which is why I am coming to these forums, with the hopes of learning more. What are pan off upgrades? So when you say front end, what sort of things do you mean? I apologize for all the questions that I’m sure must sound dumb, but I am 16 and trying to learn as much as I can. And also, does anyone know of any place I can take the truck where they just tell me what needs to be done? That sounds so easy but heck if there would be an honest place like that it’d be awesome so I figured I’d ask.
  21. First of all, I hope this is the right category and I do all of this right, this is my first time on this website. I have recently bought a 2001 24 valve with 193000 miles on it. The dealer that I bought it from did not have any decrcription if the truck other than that it was a clean truck. I am completely uneducated in diesel trucks and honestly mechanics in general. This is my first diesel truck and my first vehicle in general. the truck is an automatic, and although I’ve hear manuals are more fun, more reliable, and all around better tranny’s, an automatic was the only one that I could find that didn’t cost an arm and a leg, wasn’t rusted out, and didn’t have tons of miles. From what I can see on the truck the truck has an RP-4G-100 pure flow airdog, a new transmission pan, gauges, and an edge comp box. I have been led to believe that the comp box has not been wired correctly to the fuel pump due to most people having the result of black smoke especially when on level five, but I have not even seen a puff. Basically, I want to make this truck a reliable daily driver, with the hopes of adding some horsepower later on. What should I do in order to make this truck reliable? I have been suggested a shift kit and torque converter from another forum. By the way, the truck also shifts sort of rough between 3 and 4 gear sometimes. This does not bother me, but if it is a problem I would like to address it before it worsens. So basically, how can I make my 2500 with the plagued 47re up and running for the long run? thank you fo any help.
